I didn't see this posted but it was announced while at SHOT Show. I should have figured since Sig had the most expensive goddamn booth I've ever seen.

Ended up beating Glock (a finalist) who proposed a modified Glock 19.

While I like the 320, I think Sig will have tons of problems. They've fallen on their faces with every major product launch in the past 5 years. And I've heard they ultra low balled this one just to win.

It makes little sense when you consider that SOCOM and USMC all use Glock 19's already.

The way the action pops out is cool and really helps to offset Sig's reputation for finicky reliability. You can easy replace the action. The other parts look very glock like with a better grip angle and probably a better balance in the hand which is something where Glock falls down.

They probably took a bath on the contract price in order to win secondary business from other armies that want to interoperate with the US and to win mind share amongst American consumers.

Good for Sig. It certainly is an interesting design. I hope it is as reliable as glock. I heard the contract is something like only $230 each.

I heard they didnt really specify a caliber. So that really makes it interesting to see what they decide to go with.

It's 9mm.

And yes I heard that Sig submitted some insane low ball price just to win. They're using this contract as a marketing tool for their commercial business.

Let's see if they can actually produce on schedule.

I heard the caliber wasnt actually announced. It will likely stay 9mm, but I heard they were curious about 9mm, .40, and that weird sig round.

I have no doubt Sig will produce on schedule. I just hope they dont run into any reliability problems in the field.

Now that hollow points are allowed, there is absolutely no reason to use anything other than a 9mm since it's already standardized in the military. Each bidder submitted up to 2 calibers (9mm and .40) but the 9mm was selected.

ok cool. hadnt really followed the trials or anything, just remember at the time they hadnt settled on a caliber early on. If hollow points are allowed, you are right, no reason to go with anything else.

Side question for you, what do you think of the surefire xc1?

$230 is nuts, I would have been happy if they had gone with the G19 but I guessit was too good a price to pass up.

Original 2 year contract of $350 Million covers approx 280,000 pieces...or about $1,250 per order.

Contract could end up being worth as much as $580 Million if its extended passed its initial 2 year deal and another 212,000 guns are ordered.

You cant look at it that way. This proposal had ammo and a bunch of other shit in it. It was an awful way to buy what is essentially a COTS pistol.
