So why isn't there a US variant? India, Brazil, New Zealand, and Europe have all produced variants. What makes us different?

I am pretty sure there is/was a variant they think is from California.

What exactly do you want DeSantis to do? We are a service economy. The lockdowns didn't work. What's the great idea?

He is the best governor ever btw. He could of caved and destroyed the Florida economy in 2020.

Banning mask mandates for schools for one is a dumb idea, for various reasons, not the least of which being if kids start getting sick and dying (which they will), the blame is going to be placed solely on him. Best governor based on what? The most important issue of his first term has been covid, and Florida is currently the worst in the country with covid, after Desantis has basically been mocking it. How does that make him the best governor ever?

Eh, Ronnie Baby is pretty damn good. You put him on stage with Biden and I don't have to tell you who is going to look infinitely better.

I think he comes off like Trump with a bigger vocabulary. He might sound confident and tough, but whether he is saying anything worth while is another story.

First of all, there are 4th graders out there who have a bigger vocabulary than Trump. You haven't exactly set the bar very high, lol.

Next, we are talking about Ron next to Biden. Joe isn't nearly as sharp as he once was. That's all I am saying.

In terms of saying something worthwhile, they are politicians. Hardly anything they say is of value.

I get it, but I think he is just basically going to attract the Trump base, and Trump lost the popular vote twice, so that isnt a guarantee win by any means. Plus, I don't think debates really matter that much anymore. Even if he does come across better than Biden in debates how many people are actually going to base their vote off of that? HIs approval ratings have also dropped quite a bit in Florida, so he needs to win a 2nd term as governor before he worries about the presidency.

This is a little off topic, but I also think he is going to have problems with Trump. There is no way Trump just sits back and lets someone steal his crown of the Republican party right off his head. He will get jealous and start disparaging him at some point.

I think your first sentence is completely wrong. I believe he will attract the Trump base and those who voted for Hillary and Biden simply because they hated Trump. Next, you were the one who brought up the eloquence of Biden v. Ron, not me. I made an example out of it for comparison sake.

And do I need to remind you that the popular vote doesn't mean squat? We live in a day and age where there is a razor-think margin between winning and losing. DeSantis checks a lot of boxes for people when you get off the CNN page.

It seems strange that a variant that started in India is the dominant one in the US now considering how many infections we have had.

We will see how it plays out, but I don't think he is the shoe in everyone makes him out to be, considering his current approval rating in Florida right now is just 43%, there is no guarantee he even wins a 2nd term as governor. And nothing Desantis has said or done points to him converting Biden voters. If someone voted for Biden over Trump, why would they switch to Desantis?

Plus, we need to see how covid plays out. If children in Florida start becoming seriously ill and dying, then Desantis is pretty much finished. Considering he is selling "don't Fauci my Florida" merchandise, banning school districts from mandating masks, telling Biden to shut up about covid, etc etc, he will have invited all the blame on to himself alone. There is no way he can survive politically if kids and younger people start becoming very ill or dying in Florida, after he has basically mocked the whole thing.

He is allowing the option for kids not to wear a masks. Anyone can still wear them. Most kids aren't putting cloth masks anywhere else. The highly contagious variant isn't going to stop over a cloth mask either. There is no data that those 12 and Under are dying with covid outside of outliers.

Florida will always be at risk as a travel destination. It is what it is. It has been a year and a half. Time to bust that Fauci and China @ss for creating this lab virus.

And to be clear because everyone thinks Florida is the wild west. We have almost 60% of the Florida population with at least 1 shot. Nobody predicted we would hit records after this level of vaccinations.

He should leave the decision to the school districts.

2 kids died this week in Memphis, and the state health director told a reporter in my state today, that she expects every children's hospital in the state to be full within a week. The delta variant does affect children far more than the previous strains.

I want it optional and the problem with the school boards is they will definitely go back to masks. The same school board members will be all over the town maskless.

And if it fails you realize Desantis is going to get the entirety of the blame right?

Msm will do that regardless. I want him to what is best for the State. The solution can't be worst than the problem. What exactly did the United States gain out of the lockdowns? We are still here with it while near 60% of the eligible population is vaccinated.
Has nothing to do with the MSM, if it's his policy and it fails, it's on him. Thats how responsibility works.

I would expect we have some of the best if not best testing in the world.
Unfortunately, no, we do not.
Because of US Media hype, we have massive issues with poorly interpreted results ... up to 90%.

Basically everyone today will test positive with a PCR test.
It's how the test is interpreted that tells whether or not you're asymptomatic, diseased or otherwise.

You do understand that most people’s masks don’t do anything, right?

It's impossible to break people's assumptions.

But yes, indeed, masks do not filter out SARS-CoV-2, not even N95. Dr. Fauci and the US NIH stated such over a year ago. Aalthough P100 do work somewhat, especially with various organic specialties.

At most, masks just reduce the distance others spew their droplets. So they do help there, even with people who have been mRNA vaccinated, as they don't provide sterilization of the upper respiratory tract -- hence why the spread continues, including with the mRNA vaccinated.

That said ...

and dying (which they will),
Can we please stop with the utter BS that kids are dying from SARS-CoV-2, or any CoV for that matter?! The US Media is flat-out lying!!!

We're up to a whole 349 now after 1.5 years. It's literally fear mongering with no statistical basis!

This is like the gun violence and kids BS. When people look at the statistics, they are shocked how low it is ... except for the over 90% that are gang members, and purposely seek violence.

We are a very long way out so anything is possible for sure. I am just reading the tea leaves here. The mainstream media goes WAY OUT OF THEIR WAY to rip DeSantis, and has been for over a year while they tickled Cuomo's balls and fell all over themselves with articles that he should be president. All the while, FL was doing better than NY. I think people in the media DO see Ron as a huge threat in 2024 and hence, the negativity campaign has started.

And if you don't think that him standing up to Biden doesn't resonate with a lot of people, again, you're wrong.
