i will never understand people who hold three fingers up in the air on third down and don’t clap. About 25% of the people in the stadium seem to do it. It might be the worst tradition at UCF other than the patch. Do they all have arthritis that prevents them from slapping their hands together? How much louder could the stadium be on third downs if they clapped?

Apparently the OP is doing it wrong. You hold up 3 fingers to let those that aren't paying attention know that they need to make some noise. You don't clap. o_O You stomp while yelling if you are coordinated enough. Stomping only is ok. Yelling (Ooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhh) only is ok. Doing neither on 3rd/4th down is unacceptable.:chairshot: You can just GTFOH of the stadium if all you want to do is watch.

Can we nail down all the things that the fans should be doing during the game here?

Keys- during kickoff during daylight
Phone Lights- during our kickoff when dark
Stomping, Yelling and\or Clapping- During opponents 3rd down
Jumping up and down- when Zombie nation plays
Yell and point first down- When we get a first down

What else?

UCFify

We were UCFounded to help America go to space. The phone lights in the stands looks like the stars in space. Perfectly captures the essence of our program.
What us Creol doing if they aren't designing lasers for us to distract the other team with? Or designing a laser target for Milton's facemask?

Many do the three finger thing silently – a pet peeve of mine since it started happening several years ago. Whatever else you do, make noise!

Disagree. The lights looks like stars and we are space-affiliated program. Works perfect for UCF.
Haha read above. Lights are only during UCF kicks. Not during opponent kicks. In addifion to it looking cool, it is believed to be distracting. Last year I think Frost said it was hard to follow the ball in the air when lights are on. I'm making fun of people who are doing it wrong. There's a lot.

So we should only do it during our kicks after we score?

Maybe you're mixed up too. It's only during UCF kicks. Which I agree is really cool looking.

Yea. Scoreboard says on for Knights kicks but then it doesn't say it for opponent kicks.

If I'm missing something somebody let me know.

Students have been doing cell light thing when the opponents have been kicking FGs. Its also used as a distraction.

I thought it ironic as well. it looked like most people were doing the FAU OWL's gang sign

At first I though her T shirt said beat Texas and I thought that was unreasonable.

Then I noticed North Texas... my reaction hasn’t changed.

Yes, student section of all ppl started the silent 3 finger salute. Silly millennials...you make noise at live events...I guess that’s why the prefer to watch on their phones (even leaving at halftime to do so....you’re already there and game is close...why leave).

When football is the biggest draw in town they will stay. Now all they are worrying about is going home, showering/changing and then going out to get drunk.

Aren’t they already drunk at the game?
I’m sure a lot are. But there are a good amount that just go to game to be seen. They get excited to go out. So they save themselves from getting too drunk until later at night. Not my thing but some people.

If you are a returner I don’t think the lights would be a huge distraction once Ball is off the ground a bit. Maybe a delayed reaction in finding ball. Somewhat like an outfielder, they usually adjust and locate ball again.

Back in the 80s we didn't do much on kick-offs, then some Gator retread acquaintance of mine tried to get the key thing started here 'cause that's what they do in Gainesville. I hope it didn't get started that way, but that's why I'll never do the dumb key crap!

yeah but we're yelling (me as loud as I can). Clapping is way less loud than yelling till I turn red and have a hoarse voice :)

I scream when I hold up 3 fingers, although I make sure it's anything that could be confused with the "OK" symbol since that is -- retroactively (as of 2018, applying back 5+ years) it seems -- a 'racist' symbol.

But I'll try clapping ... along with screaming.
