Okay, the Porter 'situation' has finally turned me fully against the US Mainstream Media (MSM). I had been very critical, but at this point ... politicians can openly mis-represent and lie, and the MSM will repeat it, taking advantage of the American public's ignorance. So the MSM now has 0% "truth" rating in my book, joining my existing 0% "trust" evaluation.

First off, the FBI did indeed finish its background check for Porter as a staffer last year, shortly after he was first submitted. And those contents will be held private, for various reasons, including security. Not even the President is allowed to view those contents, per the serious and well publicized issues during the Clinton administration opening FBI files on its enemies.
But secondly, the OPM has *not* finished its full SBBI (security clearance) for Porter. The FBI can*not* answer to that, period, end-of-story, completely different agency, and the US media isn't even reporting when they point that out. And same comment on confidentiality of the SSBI applies as the FBI background check.
Now depending on whether or not he had a prior NACLC or not, especially within the last 5-10 years, he may have been granted an interim Top Secret shortly after the FBI background check. He may have had a rushed NACLC as well, and then the SSBI started after that. But he either had an interim Secret or Top Secret granted last year, and that investigation would have continued since, especially with OPM's horrendous issues and qualified staff shortage.
In fact, given the flying colors Porter received, and how much he was widely trusted, they probably put him down in the queue as non-priority. It wouldn't surprise me based on all of the few details that have been released in real, actual, news articles.
Now I don't expect everyone to know these little details, although even the public Wikipedia articles are pretty good.
But I do expect the US media, let alone partisan politicians, to not pry on your ignorance. But that's where we are in American society ... purposeful mis-representing and lying, with a retraction or 'clarification' *never* to be printed.
BTW, in both cases, given the statements of his ex-wives, Port would have still likely got his SSBI complete, and his full TS/SCI approved. They aren't there to assess his character, but if he is a threat to the United States and its allies.
Frankly, this whole 'Porter' situation is really pissing me off.
Every administration had FBI background checks and full OPM SSBIs done, and they are granted ot people I would *never* grant access to my house to. The total crap of the incoming Clinton administration in 1993 is a perfect example, and don't get me started on Hillary Clinton herself.
All the meanwhile, if you're a Mormon and don't drink, you're a threat.
The mainstream media is pretty f-up, flat out mis-representing and lying, and US politicians continuing to do so, in spite of facts, because they see enough Americans will just believe the US media. No one cares about the facts and truth any more.
