I reviewed every single play and here is what I objectively saw:
  • Poor play calling costs us 4 points on opening drive
  • Special teams costs us 12 points: (safety, 71 yd kick return (FG), muffed punt leading to a short field)
  • Holman interceptions costs us 17 points (gave UConn short field twice)
  • Dropped passes killed at least three or four drives
  • Penalties hurt both teams (personal foul before the half cost us points)
  • Can't blame play-calling today as Holman threw 50 times and ran it 8 times
  • Defensive lapses costs us 14 points on two long UConn drives
  • However, they came up big on 4th down and held UConn to a FG on another
  • Defense had 4 sacks (3 when the game was still in play)
  • I respect Diaco for taking his foot off the gas, up 33-3, they rushed 21 of next 25 plays
  • UCF had 15 possessions (scored 3 times, drives halted short 12 times)
  • Of our 12 failed possessions we had 6 punts, 3 INTs, 2 Special Teams, Penalty/Half)
I hate when GOL blames players and doesn't hold coaches accountable but today, it seemed more about execution and concentration.
