This may be the only game he will have the opportunity play with ECU, CINN, Memphis, and Tulane looming.

He may not see the field again until Navy or USF. Let's see what the kid's got...

I'm a bit irritated that we burned two games if his eligibility with almost no actual snaps and one throw.
I did too - at first, but In the age of the transfer portal, I think that mindset has to change. Gotta think of what’s best for your program today or you might just be giving a year to another school and get nothing in return.

I also took it as a sign that TC is going to see the field every single possibility this season, which the staff must think was going to be >4 games

I doubt he plays any backup for an entire quarter going forward unless injury occurs. If JRP comes back next year, im pretty sure he is, he needs as many reps as possible so we can win Big 12 first year.

You don't have to worry about eligibility when you are going to go to NFL after your junior year.

I think we now see why Castellanos needs to play whenever possible. His upside looks fantastic. Mikey Keene is a solid backup but doesn't have the athleticism that TC has.

Hansel scored a TD. That suggests the end of MK in playing for UCF. Good luck bruh....I truly appreciated your effort and performance last year. I will not forget your relentless attitude and motivation in kicking a$$ in beating the gators. If you haven't done so already, drop that note. Very best of luck.

So idk where I heard this and if true but if he doesn't play he can still have a redshirt year so maybe Gus and Keene talked about it and he may plan to transfer after the year. Seeing how things are playing out this makes sense. I still think he is QB #2 right now but Gus is not wanting him to waste his eligibility when he has no possibility to start this year. Classy moves by both parties if so.

Someone will be interested in him with beating the Gators on his resume. Keene already has a place in UCF history being the first UCF qb to beat the Gators.

Hansel was a walk-on. Not sure why he got playing time over MK. MK busted his a$$ last year for us. He deserves some reps this year. I know Gus is playing the political game w/TC, but you had almost half a game to share time. No reason why you couldn't have given him a set of downs.

I think TC is QB2...

TC is def qb2, wasn’t a question to me once he signed. MK is sitting out, it’s obvious. He’ll be qb2 on some other team next year, FCS or low G5. If he transfers to Arizona or ASU -> Qb2 also, they suck enough. Lots of people giving him too much credit for being the qb on a team that beat UF.

MK thew up points and was the Captain of our ship. Who do you give credit to? Not sure how long you followed the prograrm...but I was in G'ville in 2006 when Moffett dropped a duce and we got blowned out, not even scoring a point. It sucked walking out of that stadium. Yeah, there is a lot of credit due to MK because of what he had accomplished. I doubt you were there in 2006. Regardless if UF had a down year, they have been the flagship team in the state for years....beating them was a big thing.

I was attending UCF during that year, so yeah, didn’t attend b/c I was working 2-3 jobs putting myself through school. Glad you could attend the game, even if you couldn’t watch and comprehend how our 2006 team is different than our 2021 team lol. I give credit where credit is due, Twill and the defense won most games last year and Gus figured out a way to utilize Bowser and Okeefe. MK was just the dude handing the ball off and sometimes not throwing out of bounds.

MK was 14 for 22 for 144 yrds for 1 TD and got sacked twice that game. Lighten up Francis....The kid did a great job considering the situation given. Lets go have a beverage and chat.

Lmfao, is that supposed to be good stats? Jesus man, you would/prob did crucify JRP for less. Just be happy man, UCF is good and has a dynamic offense and defense. No idea what you are even arguing with me about.

Ok he wouldn’t play TC fir an entire quarter unless injury or we are up by 40. I didn’t foresee that scenario.

I don't think you are giving Keene enough credit. He was a true freshman playing in a bowl game against Florida. Most kids would have felt overwhelmed and made mistakes, he kept his composure all game and didn't make dumb mistakes. He should be commended for the things he did and didn't do.

What happens to Mikey?

He transfers with our eternal gratitude for 2021 and how he has handled 2022 as a class act. I could see him coaching one day after a great career starting for a FCS school or something. Maybe G.J. Kinne would like to have him over at Incarnate Word. San Antonio would be a lot closer to home.
