Thomas castellanos UCF QB Commit

Youtube recommended this vid to me. Just briefly watching the video and he reminds me of Jeff Godfrey.

He looks so good man, like ridiculous. He’s so quick on that first step and can cut so well in traffic. Oh, and he can chuck it, not a lot of receivers holding up, it’s hitting them in stride. I’m excited about this guy.

Nick Marshall is probably a better comparison since it’s Gus system. And Marshall was a monster in that Auburn team.

Having this freshmen along with our red-shirt freshmen QB getting reps in 2022 before the 2023 season in the Big-12 will be big for starting off right in P5-land.

Jimmy Johnson was asked recently what was the second most needed player on an NFL team after getting a stellar starting QB and he said a good backup QB.

Godfrey was much smaller and couldnt shake tackles like this kid. He is real deal
Same height, Godfrey weighed 10-15 lbs less.

I'm glad you guys are excited about TC....we all know there is a world of difference between HS and college.

I think we lose sight of how good Jeff was as a Freshman....if McClain had Godfrey's arm talent, they would have wiped the floor with us.

Nice post.

Godfrey had a cannon, was fun to watch. Felt like teams figured him out as a runner in year two and forced him to throw to win and it didn’t work out as well.

He lost a couple of steps after getting beat up as a Freshman, didn't know how to adjust.....then had that idiot Luther Campbell filling his head with lies.

Lead us to our first ranking. Was fun to watch

I still can’t figure out what happened during that 2011 season. It started with so much promise, especially with Godfrey and the defense wiping the floor with Boston College. All downhill from there and eventually Bortles took over.

Yeah, that Boston College game was surreal, like that wasn't UCF of the era where when we beat a P5 (not often), it was by a FG. We smashed them 30-3....and it wasn't that close.

TC is the reason DG went in the portal.

Pot stirred! 😈
took me a second on who TC was. Agreed. Kid makes throws on time. Anticipation is there, look at some of the out routes he connects on, ball is out of his hands as WR is making his cut. If coach is going to utilize him in the running game, might not be a bad idea to have a backup. If that is Keane or whoever, probably going to have some injury time for the freshman. May miss a series or two here and there. Teach him to slide.

The teams watched the film on Godfrey and he couldn't run around the outside anymore because they were always ready for him. Also, he had a hard time finding receivers from behind the line.

Lastly, yes GOL was very unimaginative with his offensive plays unlike Gus.

That's what I remember. I was furious when GOL said "I don't know why he's playing different," or something to that effect. It was obvious the play calling had changed.
He looked for the 1st option on the pass play and then sprinted around the end of the line is what I remember. It's harder to hit your 2nd and 3rd option when you've moved the pocket.

I read somewhere that P5 schools see TC as a running back and not a QB. I hope they are wrong and Gus is right. People seem to have crazy high hopes for him.

Why didn't anyone do that the first year, including Georgia in the bowl game with a month to prepare, or BC or BYU (who we lead for most of the game until Godfrey was injured) in 2011?

It's hard for me to believe that they all figured it out at the same time, after not figuring it out for as long as they didn't.

He scored 10 points in Bowl Game. That’s not great.

I suspected that answer. It doesn't account for the other two which were the next season.

I don't discount your hypothesis completely, but I think there was more at play than just that.
Might not have had the personnel to do it effectively.

He was so good in spring practice. I don't know how in the hell GOL didn't start him first game...
