He’s a better qb2 and next man up in 2023/2024!
He needs touches in games that matter this season. He won't get enough as a backup quarterback.
He is too explosive to sit on the bench.
But our RB depth is so deep there isn’t enough touches for them all. I mean MAR is awesome and he can’t even find the field with this RB depth, it’s literally ridiculous. Bowman is on deck for next year too, he’ll be splitting carries with JR and Harvey no doubt. I’m afraid MAR might transfer. Clown car of talent…
No, TC is our backup QB and has already burned his RS tonight, so he’s the guy and will get all cleanup reps. MK will transfer to wherever and good luck.
Hes only appeared in 4 games. Has to play in 1 more to burn it.
That’s right, he’s played in 4 now so he could still sit out the rest. I’m thinking he doesn’t, hoping he we don’t need him and he does though.
It doesn’t look like they are trying to save it. Hopefully we get a few more like last night and he can get some quarters in and not just a couple snaps.
It would be foolish to burn it for no other reason than to get him reps, while important it's not worth losing him full time for an entire year.

With the Portal it doesn't matter much. Schools rarely will keep players for 5 years.
TC is not taking a redshirt. MK does not want to play so next man up is TC.
You can't be over manipulative on maximizing player's eligibility.

What didn't you like about TC; he runs almost as well as JRP, throws accurately and with pace, runs the option game flawlessly, has a good head on his shoulders and doesn't get rattled.
I disagree, I think TC is done for the year barring a catastrophic injury situation at QB. I think MK will now come in for mop up duty until he reaches the 4 game threshold as well. He still wants to show potential schools what he can do with some current tape.
He ran by, around, and through people in limited action. He needs to get snaps at a position other than QB with the first unit. He can make plays to help the team. If UCF is intent on burning his red shirt, he should play a larger role down the stretch to get some real playing time.
Speed sweeps, reverses, Wildcat, whatever, get him a touch here and there.
I don't buy that MK "doesn't want to play", not for one second. He lost the job and he's not a fit for the system, but I believe he's a competitor and would kill to get on the field.
MK is done at UCF. Seeing TC for more than two plays is all I need to know that. Don't forget McClain is waiting, and then we have Rizk coming in too. Both of whom are more Gus types. Mikey played admirably and handled himself like a pro for us last year. I would love to see him put a couple of great series on tape for his eventual transfer. And I honestly do want to see him in action with the additional mass to see if he's been able to add some zip to his throws.
Completely against TC getting random touches like that. Imagine he gets a knee or shoulder injury trying to get a 1st down as an RB, when the RB depth really doesn't lose much all the way down to Jordan. No effin' way. Let him get his time at QB calling live plays if you want, but hell no to throwing him in as a gadget.
We don't need TC taking plays at RB. Just a way to get the future hurt today. Doesn't matter if he redshirts either.
TC looks great. I mean the guy had 3 runs for 88 and a TD! Electric, and he went 6/6 passing. These live reps will pay off in the future.

Well we can agree to disagree. If the kid can make plays and help UCF win a championship, I say let him play somewhere anywhere.
From what I saw last night, he has superior athletic ability that Gus will try to get on display any way possible.

There was really no need to play him against SC State, FAU or SMU. Those games were well in hand, and all he did was basically hand the ball off. We could have just kept rotating RBs in the Wild Knight as those games were well in hand. Maybe even throw Keene out there (as long as we don't burn his redshirt). It was good to play Tommy last night because he was in there actually running the offense, and not just handing the ball off. We might not have a choice but to play him in a game or more if Plumlee gets dinged-up. I mean, Tommy is probably going to have to be the backup next season as well (assuming Plumlee comes back because he does have one year of eligibility left due to 2020).
Maybe this is another calculated risk a coach takes due to the transfer portal. Letting the kid play lets him know he is "next", even if it burns a year of eligibility. At this point, I hope Plumlee comes back for another year so we can see what continuity looks like but he may choose not to. It would actually be frustrating to have to start another new QB three years in a row. Teams have to grow with each other. Making the kid sit out may not go over well, whether you think it will or not. Even if it makes logical sense. There's just no guarantee any longer that a kid is going to stay, other than their word.
The game was more well in hand than the others. Maybe they should have let him throw and run more or maybe Gus wants him to get his toes wet first.
Plumlee isn't returning. This is a one-year deal. When baseball season ends, he will go pro in something other than sports. UCF could potentially lose all five starters on the offensive line in addition to top reserve Ed Collins along with Bowser, Hollar, Gamble, and Ryan O'Keefe.
The offense will be a complete rebuild next season.
He’s definitely coming back unless he gets drafted in baseball and they offer a big signing bonus.
A very stupid strategy for player development and long term team success. A redshirt year is VERY valuable when you are learning the most complicated position in sports.

No it hasn't....most difficult position to learn, and benefits the most from a redshirt year. Don't do stupid stuff just because you are scared a guy will hit the portal.
You don't end up with a lot of tape to get you a transfer if you are a redshirt.
why is everyone assuming Plumlee is coming back ? not everyone is going to use that COVID year , he may just try to go to the NFL as an athlete
TC came in January just like MK did year before. Glad TC is getting experience. He is better than MK in my opinion and it is worth the risk of him losing a year and keep him from transferring. We've got so much talent coming here. No need to think like we are in the CUSA or AAC anymore.

He hasn’t had any other qb experience besides running the wildcat at Ole Miss his freshman year. I think he’s having fun this year, will come back for another while he can. He’s not going to be an NFL receiver and wasn’t he a spot starter in baseball for Ole Miss baseball? His scenario to me definitely leans towards a return to qb and have one more season of doing what he always wanted to do, have successful qb play. Big12 next year also shows intrigue for someone in his position.

Most egregious RS burn was UGA’s utilization of Justin Fields his freshman year. The way they utilized him was awful, like 10 game and only 10-15 passes. Brought him in to run a couple times a game too. He should have been starting, too much loyalty to what’s-his-face, loyalty will kill you.
