New coach new rules, granted Stanback was dismissed for breaking team rules related to marijuana, however if he straightened up and stayed clean what are everyones thoughts on him coming back to the team?

After all it doesn't hurt to have more impact players and not just for this year but looking ahead to the future.

I like the guy. He had multiple plays as a freshman that led to the remarkable 2013 season, the "hit," the "truck" etc... I think he was self medicating when he saw what this team was composed of. He was accustomed to competitiveness and saw a lack of it on this years team, that's hard for a competitor to swallow. I say give the kid another chance..........bring him back and let him prove he can stay away from the weed!

I'd love to have year 1 Stanback back, can you guarantee that? But, if we can't get anyone else better, then he might be worth a scholarship.

Done. He only has one year of eligibility left. We need to focus on the future. We should just keep rolling with our youth movement.

That's the point. Stanback is probably better than any recruit that you can get in February and he buys you an extra year.

My thoughts are that if he wanted to come back and truly did get clean then why not? We know what he can do, we've all seen it. He doesn't necessarily have to get back on scholarship right away since after all he did break the rules. At least give him the opportunity to play as a walk on through the rest of the year, then through spring and summer he could earn it back for his final year of eligibility.

This way at least he has a chance to play again and who knows, maybe his senior year could be his breakout year where he goes all in and makes a nice highlight reel for himself. Im my opinion, if he decided he wanted to come back and miraculously they do allow him to come back, he has a shot even if it is slim of possibly going to an NFL camp and possibly making it to the next level. With whatever he's doing now he definitely doesn't have a shot.

I WAS a big fan at one time, however, I don't think there is a fan on this board who truly knows 100% of all the facts regarding his drug use. It's all hearsay for the most part other than what sources released.

What we know:

1). After is freshman year, he really never showed anything on a consistent basis vs any real competition

2). He's been linked to "at least" one illegal drug

3). He was often injured

4) His attitude has been in question

5). He has one yeat left of eligibility, so you can't build around him

Bye!!!!

He's probably out on some munchie binge somewhere anyways. I doubt he's healthy enough to play this weekend.*

UCF had hoped that would be the case all along...as GOL was "crushed" when Stanback couldn't get clean and kept failing drug tests...and even GOL couldn't go outside the UCF Student Athlete Drug Policy to save Stanback.

From UCF's Drug Policy:

Students who test positive for any such banned substance will be subject to disciplinary action including confidential meetings with the Director of Athletics, suspension, counseling, and ultimately dismissal from the UCF Athletics Program.

Zero Tolerance:
• Upon a third positive test result, the student-athlete will be immediately dismissed from the UCFAA, Inc. Athletics Program.
All existing athletics financial aid will be terminated. o Further sanctions by the University of Central Florida may be imposed, including but not limited to suspension or expulsion.

Stanback is now ineligible to ever play again for UCF.

Bringing a guy back that was kicked off the team is not the tone a new coach wants to set. Move on new coach = new waive of recruits.

If we can forgive JJ for underage drinking, assault on a police officer and fleeting from the police, I'm sure we can #bringstanback.

No, other than a nice change of pace back for Storm he did nothing after that year and was an attitude problem and a junkie

Three strikes and your out policy seem pretty firm. I really liked Stanback but I don't care what substance it is, if you cant give something up in order to get a free education and a chance at the NFL it is pretty sad.

Good point, unfortunate as it is, it looks like it's a closed book as far as that goes. Regardless it is an interesting discussion to bring up, I do like him as far as what he could do. I agree that he was underperforming at times last season but we did see flashes of brilliance here and there especially in his freshman season, but anyway the point is moot given this information.

One of the most physically gifted players ever at UCF. Ran a 10.7 or 10.8 100 meters as a high school junior and some say he was faster at UCF at 225lbs plus. What ashame.

We saw it all on that 70 yard TD in the spring game and the hit against the Memphis KR that saved our season.
