Time for a shake up

With the Big12 continuing discussion around expansion, I think its time for Danny White to immediately start "cleaning house" throughout the athletics department! Get rid of the sub-par coaches now to show that UCF will NO longer accept mediocrity, (women's/mens basketball, baseball, etc). If we invest the money now in big name/successful coaches, it will pay dividends in the very near future. More importantly, it will show the BIg12 that UCF is ready to be a P5 member!!

1) It is extremely expensive to buyout contracts all over the place. We are not a big enough name yet to just land a team full of 4 and 5 star players across all the sports. We are going to have some ups and downs.

2) Sports like basketball are dirty and we just got caught ourselves a few years ago. You either do the Pitino route with whores or deal with "associates" for top recruits. We can't do either since we are on sanctions until 2017.

3) Where is all this money going to come from? We already are in desperate need for facilities improvements in the Brighthouse.

4) Our attendance is pretty weak in basketball. How exactly do you plan on attracting 4/5 star players with small crowds, no history, etc. It takes time. I know we live in an age of entitlements, but we have to let things grow natural. Our recruiting is actually pretty good considering. Donnie can sell recruits on having a few national titles at Florida. If he has another year on his contract, just let whatever play out next year. We will have our PG and maybe that translates to more wins.

Football is the driver on all conference realignment. Believe it or not, academics are second. Basketball and other sports third. Worry about the first two and have a double-edged strategy: 1) if Big XII expands 2) if Big XII falls apart with OU to B1G. That should be the thinking in Orlando.
