Stadium was packed except for students today. They haven't packed it out once this year. We supposedly have a 1500 person deep season ticket waiting list. Time to cut down the size of the student section of they aren't going to show up?
Students haven't filled their section once this year.I assume many of the students leave for Thanksgiving to be with family. I don't think the day after a holiday is a good gage on student interest.
Agreed. I remember being a broke student and wanting to go to a UCF game and having to be in a lottery to get a ticket. Was pissed, esp with all those fees.Bad idea. Think back when you were a student and imagine not having access to go to the game. They pay a ton in athletic fees, they have also brought juice every game I’ve gone to.
This is something usf would do.
Data point I wasn't aware of. The start of the season was strange with all the rain delays.Students haven't filled their section once this year.
Yeah, that's my beef with them. If they are too complacent to fill their seats then they shouldn't get as many seats. Don't need to coddle unappreciative brats!Data point I wasn't aware of. The start of the season was strange with all the rain delays.
This exactly. Everywhere else was packed, but tons of yellow seats. It’s typically that way too.How about people in the Cabana show up and sit in their seats. It was half full all night.
People in the Cabana section are in the stadium, it's just that a lot of them stand at the railing in the cabana or the area at the very top of those sections. I would prefer that more of them sit in their seats, so it looks better on TV, but at least they are in the stadium. This exactly. Everywhere else was packed, but tons of yellow seats. 70,000 students already pay for those 12,000 seats. "Standing around the cabanas" instead of watching a the game is a weak defense.People in the Cabana section are in the stadium, it's just that a lot of them stand at the railing in the cabana or the area at the very top of those sections. I agree that the students did not fill their sections this season. If that continues next year, reduce the student section by 1,000.
Its also the side the game cameras face, which ends up showing empty seats throughout the section. Not sure if they do it already, but they should just sell standing room cabana spots if people aren't going to use their seats. How about people in the Cabana show up and sit in their seats. Yea I wish the seats there weren't yellow. Stand out like a sore thumb. Its also the side the game cameras face, which ends up showing empty seats throughout the section. Not sure if they do it already, but they should just sell standing room cabana spots if people aren't going to use their seats.
🤦♂️"Standing around the cabanas" instead of watching a the game is a weak defense.
It's simple. If students ARE NOT FILLING their allotted seats, then they do not need that many seats.70,000 students already pay for those 12,000 seats.
Also, if it's a big game, the students show up.Tough to justify considering how much students pay in athletics fees.
Yea I get it's disappointing to see some empty seats in the student section but they're better about showing up than most other schools. Also, if it's a big game, the students show up.
I believe this is true and also not true. From what I recall, our athletic fee per student is in line with other G5 programs and is lower in-state than some other schools such as FAU and FIU. However, given that we have a larger student population than those schools, the total contribution from student athletic fees is substantial and may be higher than other in-state schools.I saw an article a few years ago about student fees in Florida and UCF students paid the most in athletics fees. This is already going to be more and more unpopular in the next few years. Our athletic department must find ways to increase revenue because there will be pressure to reduce what students pay. Right now it would be problematic to reduce their allotment.
Yea it's possible I could be misunderstanding the full context.I believe this is true and also not true. Instead of having the cabana section be such an eyesore of empty seats they should reduce the number of seats an expand the cabana proper, possibly with tables and even another level. I sit across from it and hardly anyone ever sits in those seats.🤦♂️
Dude...most of them are LOOKING AT THE FIELD from the standing areas of the Cabana.
