Timmy McClain looked great last Knight!!!

I think Timmy is so good, last Knight his few passes were right on target. JRP throws it into a window and going back to look, receivers had to adjust to the ball very often. K State Baylor good defensive teams we need that pin point pass. I love JRP as a person but I really wish we had Timmy starting.

Rudy... Rudy.....Rudy..... Bet no one remembers him.

Probably just anger at the INTs v the worst team, but I thought he was better than the starter.

You look at what Timmy did at USF with not much around him as a true freshman, I was really glad he was willing to come here. In fairness, it probably wasn't a true competition to be the starter. But the way JRP plays, it is more than likely that Timmy is going to get significant playing time this year. Maybe several starts and put himself into position to be QB 1 next year. I don't know if he burned a year last year at USF, but it would be nice if he had two more years of eligibility after this season.

In fairness about last night, the game was over and he was playing against a team with low morale at that point, so take what you saw with a grain of salt. But I honestly believe the entire offense is better when he is in the game. We rely too much on JRP's athletic ability, and not the system. At this point last year I wouldn't have believed in Mikey K. But when he got in the game, the offense just moved better with him in. A true OC would have seen that. But our OC last season was dealing with the many hats a head coach must wear. Hopefully, if the offense struggles, and I think it will under JRP, hopefully the new OC will not hesitate too long to mix things up and bring in a new QB for a possession or two; again only if the offense is struggling to move the ball, "Timmy get ready". I didn't see any deep balls by Timmy, but JRP doesn't seem to get putting some air under the ball and letting your studs go make a play. In some ways I see a young Brett Farve with JRP. He has the arm strength to make any throw; but should he make the throw? Live to play another down man. Make sure every drive ends in a kick.

Maybe its because I'm starting to get old, but QB fumbles are not acceptable when moving in the pocket. You get blind sided, everyone one of us on this board would fumble and be calling for the paramedics. But moving up in the pocket and losing the ball, not acceptable. That is why we dropped a couple of games last year, put our defense in bad spots last year. As the QB, protect the gosh darn ball.

We played a bad team last night. Yes we routed them, but 3 turnovers by a returning starter at QB, I don't see any improvement over the FAU game last year. And we will probably get by Boise, we might be more talented than them, maybe just better, but not if we turn the ball over and commit a bunch of penalties. We have to clean up both of those areas this week if we want to be 3-0 heading into conference play. Then we will really have to hunker down and do things the right way.

I've been saying for a long time, folks are sleeping on Timmy. He's a gamer and a really talented natural thrower of the football. He's not the athlete JRP is but he's still a plus athlete and will run for multiple first downs per game.

Is he an elite decision maker? Probably not, but let's be honest, neither is JRP. If JRP goes out, it really shouldn't be that big of a dropoff. TM is less dynamic but we have so many weapons that's not the worst thing.

I agree i think JRP is a better athlete but Timmy is a better QB. He offers more at the position then JRP does. I want to love 10 but i just didn’t see it against a really less talented defense.

I think I remember Castellanos also looking pretty good in clean up time and thinking what you guys are saying about Timmy. That being said, JRP looked very average against a terrible team. Bring on Timmy!

I would say below average, the receivers just had to adjust to the ball so often. Its not going to happen vs better teams

I saw 👀 what you did up there ;)

when did Castellenos look pretty good in actual games ?
Only sparingly against Temple. Timmy however did look good, crisp. He is a perfect backup for Gus’ system and I think we have both a limited drop off guy behind qb1 this year and a lot of promise starter for 2024-2025. I want to beat UF so bad next year in the Swamp, I believe Timmy can be that guy.

Btw, I’m not going to get into it b/c half of you have a hard on for Mikey Keene still who is gone btw (god knows why, he averaged 169 yards per game with no running ability?) and the other half just hates JRP…but JRP looked way better last night spare TWO bad passes..ran less but was still dynamic running, stayed in the pocket more (OL is much improved in pass protection at least in this game), threw nice balls that the WRs didn’t drop. All around improvement, Hinshaw also called a way better game even if it is mostly Gus’ play sheet.

I'll agree with you on Hinshaw.

He had one game against an FCS team I think where he had a couple of completions and a nice run.

But easy to see why TMac beat him out. He has this year, and 2 more years of eligibility left.

I didn't see Timmah tuck and run where there were wide-open receivers. JRP did not elevate as advertised.
