Here is a thought experiment. Say you can put five albums in a time capsule to be opened 2,000 years from now. What albums do you choose?
Me:
1. Miles Davis Kind of Blue. It had Coltrane and Cannonball Adderley. Davis and the brilliant Bill Evans create the greatest expression of modal jazz and one of the greatest albums in history.
2. Flaming Lips Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots. My favorite concept album ever. Probably the best album made from 95-2005.
3. Bon Dylan Highway 61 Revisited. Like it or don't. Dylan went electric and it changed rock and roll forever.
4. Johnny Cash Live in Folsom Prison. I feel like people should know country music existed, but most of it sucks. Cash, Nelson, and the other outlaw control guys did it right
5. Guns and Roses Appetite for Destruction. Because white trash will still be a thing in 2000 years and I want them to have something. Plus they will still be playing Welcome to the Jungle when robots are playing sports for us.
This list is supposed to be subjective. I hope the Beatles are forgotten about by the time the capsule is opened. I probably should have added some rap, but meh.
