Just woke up to this horrific news.
Kissimmee Chief said these officers were ambushed as one had died while the other is on life support in grave condition.
Officer Matthew Baxter, who is married to another Kissimmee Cop with 3 kids died, while Sergeant Sam Howard is fighting for his life.
Meanwhile 2 Officers in Jacksonville were shot last night by high powered rifle plus 2 State Troopers in PA were also shot last night.
Tragic night to be a cop.

In regards to that dangerous neighborhood, Ch 9 reported that crime was so bad in that area, in 2008, Federal Agents along with state and local LEO's raided that area and arrested 59 people. 19 were prosecuted on federal char and 48 were prosecuted by the state.
It improved slightly but it's still one of the most dangerous areas in all of Osceola County.

3 suspects have been arrested while a 4th is still evading capture. Hope the locals are able to tell police where he might be hiding out if he is still in the area.
WFTV Ch 9 has the best team coverage this am, almost non stop coverage while Ch 2 and Ch 6 only had a few mins on this story at the top of the hour then they moved on to old stories from yesterday (must have had a skeleton crew overnight).
Kissimmee Chief said the cops stopped to investigate a suspicious person(s) that were reported in the area and that these officers were ambushed, never got a shot off in return.
Remember, Aramis Ayala, Osceola County District State Attorney, who was recently elected with major $$$ support from George Soros, said she will NOT prosecute anyone for the death penalty in her district.

Seeing him, now her, in Vogue made me puke, and I don't mean because he-she is transgender.
I warned all of my long-standing LGBT friends to not support him-her, as it undermines their position entirely.
The way this went down from the dispatch angle and rest of the officers' side is chilling. Worse, Officer Baxter's wife is Kissimmee police and she knew this was going down and that no one could reach her husband over the radio. I can think of very little that is more heart-wrenching. Given what went down and what went over the radio, It's amazing that the officers who apprehended the suspect did so without any loss of life. On either side.
Really sad that those 2 lost their lives as well as the other 4 shot all in the same night. this country is really going down hill fast.
The sad thing is that there was no reason for the killings. From reports, Baxter stops out with a suspicious person. Miller is verbally argumentative and straight up lies about not being the driver of his car. Baxter calls for backup. There are other civilians on scene. Howard arrives and they tell the others to leave. This leaves Miller and the two officers. Just a few quick minutes later, less than 4 minutes after Howard tells dispatch he's on scene, Miller pulls a weapon and shoots both Baxter and Howard in the head.
There hasn't been any indication that Miller was wanted for anything specific or that he was running from anything. KPD has dealt with him many times before. On this day, Miller decided that he was going to kill these officers and that was all there was to it. He took their lives much faster than they could respond.
Given incidents like these, can you really blame police officers when they don't respond well to people being argumentative towards them?

Obviously the man is not well. He kills two cops and then just goes to a bar almost literally across the street from where he murdered two people.
"Miller, 45, had been acting suspiciously and would not leave, a manager at Roscoe’s Bar & Packaging told Osceola County deputy sheriffs. He matched the description of the man who had pulled the trigger, according to documents.
As six deputies and a Florida Highway Patrol trooper tried to remove him, Miller cursed at them and insisted he “didn’t do anything,” records show.
“I'm innocent,” he yelled. “I didn't do it, I'm a veteran.”
A 9 mm Sig Sauer pistol fell from the back of his waistband, and deputies found a Derringer .22-caliber revolver in his front pocket. Later that night, when a detective adjusted his handcuffs in an interview room at Kissimmee police headquarters, Miller’s demeanor had changed.
“Everett began to cry, said he did not want to live and pleaded with me to kill him,” Detective Cpl. Charles Hess wrote in an arrest report. Hess told him that nobody at the station was going to kill him and asked why he would say that.
“I have done a bad thing,” Miller said.
The officers will have joint funeral services on Thursday.
Miller, who spent 21 years on active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps, has no previous criminal record in Florida but had recently been involuntarily hospitalized under the Baker Act, which is used for people having mental health crises and are deemed an imminent danger to themselves or others."
My guess is that he ends up with an insanity plea. Tragic situation.

I just wonder , if he had been Baker Acted as I read in one story , why he'd still have a valid concealed carry permit . Not sure obviously what the situation was but that's an issue
I hadn't seen where he had a CWP, just that he had concealed weapons - in fact, one of the charges he faces is carrying a concealed weapon.
He didn't. If you're Baker Acted your CCW is taken until a reevaluation could be done.
He was probably illegally carrying those firearms.

In many agencies, all it can take is someone saying that they feel like killing themselves to get Baker Act-ed by law enforcement. Many homeless use it as a hotel stay when they want a shower, a bed, and a few meals. They know exactly the right words to say. Not saying in this case it wasn't "warranted," but just that it isn't an absolute that the guy is batshit insane.

That area is know as Mclaren Circle as thats one of the roads in there. Back in the late 80 early 90s it was a rough place I havent been in there since highschool when some friends lived there. But its been a crime and drug infested hell hole for a long time.
