after googling to see what the guys who left have been up to I came across this quote from Chip Kelly.

“I think the days of, ‘Hey, let’s take a flier on this kid, I think he may be a developmental kid, he hasn’t really shown much, but he’s got some height, weight and speed and we’ll just see if he pans out,’ you’re not gonna do that now because you could potentially not have a scholarship for a kid who can come in and start for you next fall,” Kelly said.

the Bethune move still doesn’t make sense

I don’t think there was a big NIL payday and he is going to a worst team and culture
Exactly. Way worse team and they haven’t even gotten much of a collective off the ground. I know one big booster heading one up and he’s very rich and very smart. FSU will be a big player soon, but Bethune seemingly went for Randy Shannon alone and maybe “P5” exposure? Don’t fool yourselves, that’s a very real thing, especially in the eyes of these players.

I believe Kevin Smith recently tweeted he would have transfered to a P5 program if the portal was available when he played.
Hes always been able to transfer. Portal makes no difference. The only thing that makes a difference is not sitting out a year. Until 2007 he wasnt on P5 schools radars. Not sure they were lining up to get him.

DG Probably? Come on. The DG hate has shut off some people's brains on here. I'm excited to see what Plumlee can do, but we know what DG can do, and we saw what the offense did when it went from Gabriel to Keene last year.
DG is an incredible arm talent. The question mark for him is winning the close games. If he cant do that at oklahoma those fans will be way worse than ours

That is irrelevant to my point. Our QB situation is better with DG than without him. It just is.

Also, the winning close games thing, I don't know that's pretty subjective. You could argue that Mikey Keene is great at winning close games based on last season, but the reason we played so many close games is because our offense was so bad in so many games that we had many close games. Games that we would've won by 3 touchdowns with Gabriel under center.

I am sure that he would have been better last year. But not sure him staying would have been best for the program. He was obviously not happy with the new staff and would not have been a positive influence here. I don't have the same opinion about the others. Not sure why some people are so protective of that guy.

I am in agreement. No need to get defensive. The close games thing comes from those games where you need to elevate your game further to win.

I still have questions about DG and winning big games. However, I do think he is a good quarterback and this year's team with DG would have been amazing. I hate that he chose to leave but it's time for the program to move on. I think Gus will figure out the QB position for this year. I really think MK is a great kid but I see it going to Plumlee if he can throw the ball at all. If so, MK will transfer and TC step up and be a really good QB for UCF for the next few years. Future is bright!
