Trump tells truth

calls baltimore a sh—hole. Libs lose their collective mind despite it being 100% factual
How's that work??!?!?!?

Last I checked, Baltimore is part of the United States that Trump governs as President. Doesn't that make it HIS shithole???!!?!?

When’s the last time you went to Baltimore?

That said I’m there damn near every month. Overpaid greatly for a steak at Gordon Ramsey’s in the casino downtown last week and then dropped another $300 on slots before I had enough. There’s plenty to like about Bodymore that isn’t a shithole. But... there are a lot of places that are almost identical to the south side of Chicago neighborhoods except dirtier. Trump is over exaggerating but he has a point. Elijah Cummings is way too focused on national politics and way too lazy in leading his own communities.

Ive been in Baltimore seven times in the past three months. Now I rarely stay in “Baltimore” because it is a shit hole. Yes the “city of Baltimore “ is dangerous, nasty and disgusting. Everything Trump said about Baltimore has been said recently by people like Bernie Sanders as well as news outlets like WAPO, CNN and the BBC. Now go north to the Roland Park area and it’s very nice as is a small part of downtown, but the parts Trump is talking about you have not visited. I drove through once in broad daylight and I felt like I was driving through a third world country.

Baltimore like most crime ridden large cities has been governed by Democrats for decades now. Its our collective shithole as Americans but the reason it’s a shithole is squarely on Democrats

DONALD TRUMP ISN’T THE ONLY ONE WHO THINKS BALTIMORE IS IN BAD SHAPE…
by Kevin Ryan (unbiased america fb group)

When Sen. Bernie Sanders toured West Baltimore in 2015, he said ”You would think that you were in a Third World country.”

“We're talking about a community in which there are hundreds of buildings that are uninhabitable,” Sanders said.

Indeed there are a staggering 15,938 abandoned and vacant properties in Baltimore. That’s more than Detroit. And Baltimore’s real estate vacancy rate is 7.3%, the third highest in the nation. Almost 1 in 10 properties are unoccupied.

And there are a lot more problems with Baltimore than just its housing.

• One-third of high schools in Baltimore had zero students proficient in math. 50% or Baltimore high schools had 1% or fewer students proficient in math. https://foxbaltimore.com/news/project-baltimore/13-baltimore-city-high-schools-zero-students-proficient-in-math

• Baltimore has the highest crime rate and the highest violent crime rate among large cities in America. https://nypost.com/2019/07/28/trump-is-right-about-baltimore-and-the-democrats-know-it/

• Baltimore has the highest murder rate in the country, at 51 murders per 100,000 residents. That’s 10 times higher than the U.S. rate. https://homicides.news.baltimoresun.com

• If the Baltimore were a country, it would have the 4th highest homicide rate in the world, behind only El Salvador (61.8 murders per 100,000 people), Jamaica (57.0), and Venezuela (56.33). https://dataunodc.un.org/crime/intentional-homicide-victims

• In 2017, the drug overdose rate in Baltimore reached 85.2 per 100,000, or four times the national rate. That’s almost the equivalent of 0.1 percent of the city’s population dying from drug overdoses in one year. https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2019/3/22/18262179/baltimore-opioid-epidemic-overdose-addiction-treatment

• Baltimore ranked 129th out of the 150 biggest cities it terms of quality of governance. It has had a succession of almost laughingly failed mayors—one of whom stole gift cards meant for poor children, and another who “sold” thousands of copies of her book to the public hospital system in a kickback scheme. The city ranks 132nd out of 150 in quality of municipal services. https://wallethub.com/edu/best-run-cities/22869/

This reminds me of when someone ratted on Trump for calling certain terrible countries "shtitholes" and Democrats screamed and yelled about it.

And then they describe many nations as total shitholes when trying to justify bringing huge new numbers of asylum seekers into the US.

My work used to take me to Baltimore a lot. I’m a big fan of the inner harbor and a summer evening at Orioles Park at Camden Yards is sweet if you’re an old school baseball guy.

I just don’t see the value for a President to play ‘red’ and ‘blue’ games with cities or regions and divide us all further. I saw a CNN announcer get emotional on the air about it because he grew up in Cumming’s district. And wouldn’t you if the President described your home town in such a demeaning way?

lol we had the last DNC Candidate for President describe all Republicans as "deplorables" and the last Democratic President described Republicans as people who "cling" to their bibles and guns because they're so scared of the super awesome progressive city centers that look a lot different from where they come from.

But yes, it'd be terrible if a President or Nominee were stoking biases on a partisan basis based upon assumptions about where those people live and where they're from.

He is in the U.S. House of Representatives. If he isn't focused on national politics, he quite simply isn't doing his job. I think the mayors and city council members and even state government is far more to blame then Cummings. But also, his district also includes almost all of Howard Co which has a median household income of over $115k, making it top 5 in the country for highest median income. So if he gets blame for the problems in Baltimore for being lazy in not leading his own communities, does he get credit for Howard co?

Also, calling Elijah Cummings lazy is ridiculous to begin with.

That is not how it works. Why do they have offices in their district? Why do they get six weeks off this time of year? They are there to represent their constituents and focus federal issues and funding to their districts.

Of course it is how it works. Representatives are not the mayors or city councils, or even members of the state legislature. They represent the district at the federal level, and a large portion of their job is focused on federal issues. They are not the ones responsible for running the local governments in their districts. Obviously they can try and get federal funding for certain projects and things of that nature, but they still aren't the ones setting budgets, running police departments, schools, etc and running the districts on a daily business.

Hillary's deplorable comment was a poor choice, but you are also mischaracterizing it. She did not call all Republicans deplorable, she said about half of Trump supporters were deplorable. She was talking about the alt-right people. I agree it was a stupid thing to say, but you aren't being accurate.

LOL

So there are 31M “alt right people” in this country? And that’s what makes her words contextually OK?

You’re trying to spin this for her by assigning the alt right to 31M people but that’s not going to work

Did you not read where I said it was a stupid thing to say? How do you interpret that into I was saying it was ok?

“You know, to just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. Right?” Clinton said. “The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic—you name it. And unfortunately there are people like that. And he has lifted them up.”

That is the literal quote, that you have somehow interpreted into meaning all Republicans.

You insisted she was referring to the alt right. I pointed out that there are not 31M “alt right people” in this country.

It is funny to watch this. The left is in denial, even if Trump was massively abrasive.

Although it is even more funny to see even anti-Trump people from Baltimore coming out and saying they don't like how he said it, but he's not wrong either.

I guess this is why people wanted Trump.

The quote was made on 9/9/2016, almost 2 months before the election. So the 31 million number you are throwing out is meaningless. She even said the next day she shouldn't have said "half". At the time she made that statement, Trump wasn't overly popular with Republicans. Again, it was a stupid thing for her to say, but she was talking about the alt right, not all Republicans like you claimed.

Splitting hairs. It was still 20-25% of the country, and -- more importantly -- still alienated some 40-45% of the country.

Romney had the exact same effect with the 47% argument -- alienating a good 40-45% of the country that identified as feeling they need major subsidy by taxpayers (it was actually a bit less than Romney stated).

Bull

Even I was alienated, and I didn't vote Trump! But I don't know of a single Trump voter who wasn't alienated. Seriously, understand what it did.

I mean, if you're Clinton ... what do you say, "Oh, I meant the 'other half' of the Trump voters." If anything, you just proved the problem with Progressivism in the US -- under-estimating how much people are insulted.

We all know -- from the US media -- how much Trump insults others. No argument, he does it constantly. But a lot of people like Trump because the US Media is in such denial of how much they insult others.

AoC and Omar are perfect examples, they insult people far, far more than Pelosi, yet if you watch the US Media, you'd think it's far less, and Pelosi is the one on the left that upsets Americans the most -- although far less than Trump according to the US Media, of course.

^^^ If you don't understand that, re-read it! Seriously, let it sink in.

If she and Romney alienated as many people as you say neither election would have even been competitive. The vast majority of voters in this day and age are going to vote for one party or the other no matter who they think of the candidate, with some swing voters. A gaffe here and there isn't going to change that.

cubs is terrible at math. trump got almost 63m votes. divide that in half and you get 31m deplorables...

Her comment was 2 months before the election genius, at that time he had exactly 0 votes, not 62 million. You are also conflating voters with supporters. Plenty of people voted for Trump because they didn't like Hillary, and vice versa. The lesser of two evils voters are hardly what I would consider supporters.

wait, so trump had already won the gop primary? and then he went on to get 62m votes just 2 months later?

Yeah, there are no run down places in conservative areas in Appalachia or the deep south.

It's absolutely amazing that every US sh*thole is run by lefties. I've visited some...um, 'interesting' areas in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, West Virginia, and SW Virginia that I would have described as real sh*tholes if they weren't run by Conservative Republicans.

This notion that we should play new 'Civil War' games is both unproductive and ridiculous.

Either way your point is nonsense. There's a tiny, tiny number of people in this country who are "alt right", whatever the hell that even is. It's mostly a phrase that the media tossed around as a way to scare monger about people who voted for Trump as they attempted to cope with losing in 2016.

Unless your prepared to tell me it was possible for Trump to get like 4M votes total so we can guess that Hillary was referring to the 2M "alt right" deplorables.

Yeah, there are no run down places in conservative areas in Appalachia or the deep south.
Ummm, they heavily tend to be Democratic voting in those areas, especially with high crime rates, even if the rural or suburban areas of lower middle class and farm areas push the area to overall Republican.

My point is not nonsense. My point was to correct you when you said she was referring to "all republicans". I posted the actual quote that quite clearly showed she was not, and for some reason you cant accept that. That isn't my problem so you can wine and moan about it all you want. Facts are facts.

Umm, no they don't. Are you seriously trying to tell me poor rural areas in the south and in Appalachia are blue?

Either way your point is nonsense.
But it's a popular viewpoint in the US media.

There's a tiny, tiny number of people in this country who are "alt right", whatever the hell that even is.
A quarter of the country is merely conservative, not full blown alt-right. I've pegged it about 3% that could be considered "alt right."

Opposite them, unlike what the US Media would have one believe, not even 10% of the country agrees with the US Media's definition of 'politically correct.' It's this group that is calling everyone they disagree with as 'racist' and 'deplorable' and it's not stopping.

It's mostly a phrase that the media tossed around as a way to scare monger about people who voted for Trump as they attempted to cope with losing in 2016.
We're all racists these days, even those of us who didn't vote Trump, and still won't vote him in 2020 -- I would buy his straws though, funny enough.

Some of us are trying to be critical of the left like the right, and we're finding we're labeled if we do. Even Omar, who is one of the worst examples of the left, on the order of Trump on the right -- and then some, actually condoning organizations unlike Trump, who will disavow -- is really beginning to scare me.

Even Trump recognizes when he goes too far. Omar seems to double-down. She's well beyond AoC. And even when Trump is wrong, I won't get fired for speaking out against him. Omar? Well, again ... getting scary.

Same with religious organizations or even some companies. For some reason, you're a racist and/or sexist to even acknowledge them, much more patronize them. Again, scary.

Unless your prepared to tell me it was possible for Trump to get like 4M votes total so we can guess that Hillary was referring to the 2M "alt right" deplorables.

Umm, no they don't. Are you seriously trying to tell me poor rural areas in the south and in Appalachia are blue?
Yes, look at the metropolitan and county specifics.

Heck, having dealt with Louisiana during Katrina, I would much rather be around the rural and urban gun toting villages that were Republicans than the Democratic metropolitan areas were crime-infested.

Go to Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, et al. and you'll find similarly. Here in Alabama, it's more of the same. The Republicans only win out because of the rural and suburbia, largely self-employed or lower middle class. The major metro areas are heavily Democratic, but there just aren't enough of them to overload the total number of Republicans in the state.

Although even in Alabama, when a Republican wins a primary and the 'dirty laundry' comes out on him (e.g., Moore), the Republicans will vote Democratic instead (e.g., Jones). That's unlike in Virginia, where Democrats will stick with men charged with racism and even rape.

I mean, no one here lives in Jefferson County for a reason. It's more than just the areas with crime too, but the literal non-sense of the leadership and politics.
