I think FSU should change the name of their law school. Not only was the school founded on the idea of white supremacy, (it was formerly part of FAMU and was moved to all white FSU as retribution over civil rights activism), the name of the building is still Grimes Hall -- The Justice of the Supreme Court that OK'd separate but equal in the state. I never would have gone there my last year in law school if I had known that.
John Rogers is famous for the good things he did and that's why his name is on the building. The bad things happened before the good.
With Grimes Hall, the name on the building is meant to honor the bad things he did and he never repented. It is a stain on Florida.
Finally, President Upham would put the name of a donor on all the toilet seats on campus, if he could find someone to give him the money. With the new President coming on shortly, this smacks of a drive to rename it after a monetary donor in lieu of a legacy donor to edge his total donations collected over the $1 billion mark. The political correctness is just a way to justify it without the alumni freaking out. The real question is whether TU is going to reprint all the diplomas of the living alumni, if John Rogers Hall appears on it. I laughed my butt off when that ambulance chaser Levin gave $10 million from the tobacco settlement to UF and they had to mail out new diplomas to every UF grad. All the snooty UF country club type lawyers were furious his name would be hanging on their wall.
