Twitter Rumor Recap Of Big 12 Expansion

No way would this happen as early as 2016. I also find it hard to believe a conference that didn't want 12 is all of a sudden looking at 14.

My favorite comment on the Mountain West board: "Well, BYU fans aren't happy if this news is true----not without our BFF Boise State. BYU played UCF recently, and the UCF fanbase sucks compared to Boise."

Except we draw more fans to our games than Boise State has seats in their recently expanded stadium? Well, they do all adhere to their color dress-up themes, so they've got that going for them...

Yeah, laughable. There was a great crowd on hand in Orlando for the BYU game on a Thursday night. I can only assume the BYU fan was talking about when we played in Provo in 2011 on a Friday night 2,300 miles from our campus. I guess we didn't bring enough fans to that one to impress.

Our draw directly correlates to quality if opponent. We got 30K diehards that go to any game. 'Big' games sell out the house and could easily put as at the 60K area, where stadium expansion would accompany B12 invite.

These rumors always seem to be leaked from W. Virginia. Either they're trying to make something happen or their people don't know how to talk without saying something that can be misconstrued. Yoda's always right, after all he called Miami and Clemson to the Big 12 and then later said they'd expand and announce it before Nov 2014. So he's in the know!

If they (Big 12) are serious about expanding, then selecting 2 or 4 teams will not be a quick process.

Probably true...but for UCF, ANY discussion on P5 expansion is a good thing...as it was only just a few months ago that the Big 12 Commish basically said expansion wasn't even up for discussion...Big 12 was happy with 10 teams...but now WVU AD admitted publicly that the conf is looking at/studying expansion...and most likely how their TV contracts could change with ESPN/FOX with addition of more inventory (more valuable conf games...with 12 or 14 conf teams playing 9 conf games each), expansion into new markets (60% of the conf membership is located in just 2 states: TX and OU), and what either FOX or ESPN would pay for a conf championship game.

Big 12 have done almost a 180 in their view of expansion...and even if they are a giant cruise ship that can't turn around on a dime...as long as that ship is turning....that's a good thing for UCF.

Any shake-up of Big 12 Membership (or any other P5 Conf...do some of their members change conf too?), it only opens up a possibility for UCF to move up the P5 ladder and hopefully land in a conf that receives $25 Million - $40 Million in annual TV money.

y.

It is good for UCF if and only if we are included in the expansion. If we are not part of the expansion, we are better with status quo.

I have been on giant cruise ships and they can easily turn around on a dime ... once they stop going in the wrong direction

Suppose this pipedream is true, what is the latest an AAC team has to tell the conference it's leaving and be able to play 2016 like the rumor hints at.
