UCF 18, Boise State 16 - Gus Malzahn Press Conference

If you want to see the 'agony of defeat' check out the 2 minute mark on DJ Schramm interview.

Boise played great. Great game for both teams.

A bad win is better than a bad loss! Cliche' city here.

I would have preferred a blow out win of course, easier for the blood pressure, but wow, what a game at the end for UCF and the win. Frustrating at times. Gut, hell yeah for football season. that game got the juices flowing. Standing up from the couch for good luck, not working...then tried just sitting on the couch and remain calm (that seemed to help better). But, standing up when the ball went thru the goal post was the clincher! :p

BOOM

why was he sliding and not running out of bounds? you know we used a timeout right after to stop the clock?
we all said it in the Kent State thread when he was running straight at defenders that he isn’t going to make it through the season . just dumb and bad for his long term health

How Plumlee plays absolutely influences those calls. He is not a QB that avoids contact or quick to slide, so refs will assume he is making a football move to go down the field. He did not look at all like he was committing to the slide otherwise his legs are not behind his back.

He is more likely to be like Kenny Pickett faking a slide than being a QB that slides early.

That was a what the hell should I do here situation (not a slide, not a run OB, and unfortunately not positioning himself properly for contact). He did protect the ball but that's because it was drilled into him all week. The lack of QB IQ continues to show for JRP. Do you think Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers or even Patrick Mahomes would have taken that hit? Not a chance. If JRP wants to continue to be a QB at this level, let alone the next level, he has to better manage games and protect his own health. There's no doubt that he's a freakish athlete for a QB and Gus is giving him a lot of rope to learn from his mistakes but, based on this possible injury, maybe too much?

Reminds me of Rudy, almost like he has to prove himself every play. As if he doesn't take punishment for the team he is not doing his job. Kind of like Tebow, except Tebow had at least 3" on him and 35 pounds

What is sad is that was JRP's greatest moment as a quarterback--he led a game-winning drive for the first time in his career--and he won't even remember it.
