First game I’m watching this year. We are playing VERY fast, full court pressing. High tempo basketball, fun to watch.
It’s a great team this year. Lots of weapons and lots of full court press. They just don’t always get in rhythm at the same time. We build that rhythm and this team will go places.
Those late first half possessions were painful. Why did Perry wait until 5 on the shot clock to start the offense?
We missed 13 of the last 14.

On vacation. Didn’t get to watch again but my original thoughts on the team looking average at best still stands in my book. We have a lot of good players but we don’t seem to have anybody that can take over a game. My guess is we’ll finish in 6th in the AAC.
Good game UCF. Hoping we continue to play moving forward. Would love to play UCF is all sports moving forward consistently and yes, that would include H/H (1/1) football games.
Looked at the team stats. We got dominated. Mahan has been particularly ice cold so far this season. Don’t know what is up with that. Reynolds needs to play more (yes, I’m like a broken record about this….he’s the type of player “that gets going” if you get him involved….you can’t just stick him in for a few minutes here or there and expect him to change the game).
Reynolds got absolutely dominated and looked terrible. I actually wished he didn’t play at all last night. Would have been better to put someone out there with height that can shoot from outside. Their big man was way bigger than us and blocking shots left and right. Needed to get him away from basket. Not clog lane. We don’t have 1 great player. Auburn has 2. Their big man and a freshman that averages 17 and probably is one and done. Auburn has a great home court advantage. We need that at our home games.
I agree about Reynolds, I have never seen a 7ft player get his shot blocked every single time they took a shot until last night. This team will live and die by the 3 pointer this year, if they go in we can hang with anyone but if they don’t it will not be good.
Our half court offense and rebounding overall are weak.
I do like our aggressiveness and athleticism so hopefully the other stuff will improve as the season goes on.
Please don't look at the stats and assume all that.
It was a very close game until what would be the 4th quarter. Very close with Green and Mahan having an off knight. Reynolds didn't play well either.
I love coach Dawkins and what he has done for the program. But I swear he needs to hire an offensive coordinator.

It was a close game until we had a 3 on 1 break and instead of passing to a wide open player for the guarantee it went outside to an ice cold Mahan. Then the next possession Mahan again came down and chucked up a bad 3. Six point swing and the beginning of the route.
I think UCF got tired in the 2nd half. They played a full court press pretty much the whole game. That tires you out. I also didn't see any turnovers committed by Auburn due to the full court press. When we got down a couple digits still full court press. Now you are just eating clock by playing full court, especially when the other team beats it every time. I change of strategy would have been nice. Just an opinion. Auburn home crowd definitely helped spur them on. Agreed on the refs as well, they were whistle happy at times then kept it in their pocket at other times. Oh well. When's next game?

The full court press was just going through the motions. They weren’t trapping and 1 pass beat it.
Auburn has significantly better NBA type athletes than we do. That 7' freshman that could hit 3's was unbelievable. Even the 7'-1" guy, we couldn't even make a layup. I am amazed we hung in the 1st half. I think Auburn could go all the way this year. SUPER HOSTILE environment too!
They looked good. Not sure how they lost 1 game. Their coach is real good too.

All I need to initially see is 3pt % and FT %. If 3 pt % is above 30% and FT% is above 70% we probably win that game. I’d estimate 85% of the time we surpass both those numbers, we win. We shot ~17% from 3pt land and ~75% from the charity stripe. Without even looking at any other stats I knew we were probably getting smoked.
Reynolds is not going to start playing well unless he gets sustained minutes in every game. His minutes have been nil to minimal per game. He’s basically useless as such. If this continues I hope he transfers for his sake, and ours.
