Orangebloods publisher Geoff Ketchum made a post detailing why the Big 12 should invite UCF and USF. It was verbatim from what he said on the radio on Friday, basically talking about Florida talent.
One fan response:
A few more fans were like, "Good idea ," and a few more were like "Awful, don't add directional schools."
Some guy was skeptical, and said there are no easy divisional splits. Ketchum responded with this:
Central Florida is a very (and what I feel really is pretty obvious) forward thinking option. Not as high on South Florida but certainly more reasonable than some of the other schools being thrown out there. But Central Florida could really be a solid addition to the Big 12. Terrific TV market. Fertile recruiting state.
Ketchum responds:
I think having a second Florida school, even one that's really raw, helps double down on the Florida seeds being planted.
Another fan:
Orlando is a top 20 market. If you are looking for some perspective, Austin is 49th. Give UCF a much better slate of Power 5 conference games including two blue bloods in OU and Texas and they become a rather larger factor in the market IMO.
Ketchum said in his divisions there would be a permanent crossover. For Texas, it would be Oklahoma.

Disagree on Big 12 adds. UCF yes, USF no. Ask Anwar. They should be WAY down anyone's list. Play in an NFL stadium that looks almost empty on gameday. Jim Levitt built the program to respectability at one time but they never sniffed a Big East title in an average league and WVU, Louisville, and Cincy, sometimes with much less talent, beat them constantly. Terrible BB program as well with little support. IF Big 12 expands, need to add 2 programs from different states to expand footprints and tvs.

UCF beat the shit out of the Big 12's champion two seasons ago. South Florida has been more relevant than several schools in the Big 12 in the last decade. It's run from 2005-10 was pretty strong, given that we're talking about a program that is still somewhat in its infancy.
(South) Texas, Texas Tech, Baylor, TCU, South Florida and Central Florida
(North) Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State and West Virginia.

The idea of adding the Florida schools is more worthy than a lot of posters ITT are considering it. I think the Big 12 has to add show it's here to stay - standing pat is akin to dribbling out the clock which given the time horizon on the GOR isn't viable.
The Florida schools don't have the tradition of being in a power conference, but likely have better futures in football than a number of power 5 schools.
