The new agenda for the July 20 Board of Trustees meeting was just posted. There are a lot of facility-related items to digest, including an update on the status of baseball stadium construction.

Full link to PDF:

On page 32, you can review UCF's "Future Project Projections" for 2018-23. All of the sports related projects are listed below, and all are listed for the 2018-19 academic year.

Products to be programmed:

Baseball Stadium Expansion Phase II: $3,396,600
Baseball Clubhouse Expansion and Renovation: $1,132,200
Football Building: $16,685,798

Products added or changed from previous year:

Garvy Center for Student-Athlete Nutrition: $1,850,000
Golf Training Facility: $2,000,000
Bright House Networks Staduim Rust Remediation: $8,823,000
Venue HVAC: $2,800,000
Venue Expansion and Renovation: $8,000,000

Projects removed from list:

Softball Stadium Expansion and Enhancements: $1,132,200
Fieldhouse Chilled Water HVAC Upgrades: $7,551,725

On page 33, there is a list of projects that require Board of Governors approval in order to be financed.

In addition to baseball clubhouse, Bright House Phase I and the Garvy Nutrition Center, also included is "Bright House Networks Stadium Expansion and Improvements Phase II" which is "additional seating up to 20,000" at a projected cost of $39,662,000. Obviously, that's not on the immediate drawing board (if ever).

On page 69 is an action item regarding Baseball Stadium Expansion. They are looking to fund $3.6 million to cover construction costs to "expand and renovate the stadium."

Skanska is the contractor with a scheduled construction start date of October 2017 with completion in February 2018.

The following page outlines pledges:

Committed Donations: $2,285,000 in "committed donations" on a six-year payment schedule.

(This includes John Euliano's gift).

Oustanding Donation Proposals: $550,000

(Translation: Money they don't have, but think they can get).

Projected Club Seat Sales Over Six Years: $810,000

(I think this is assuming every club seat is sold over six years).

Total Construction Cost: $3,600,000

(The difference shortfall is listed as $45,000).

As I posted a couple weeks ago, renderings were being updated. A new pressbox is indeed part of the plans, and it will be adjacent to the club, closer to the third-base line.

The listed construction schedule is ambitious - October to February - and could run into the start of the 2018 baseball season. I'm told UCFAA leadership will take a "wait and see" approach in regards to the timeline and any potential impacts on the season. If close to completion but not quite ready, it's possible the construction area could be roped off and games could still take place, but that's very much TBD. UCF would hope to avoid the need to play any games at another venue. I'm not even sure where that could take place - Sanford? Rollins?

There is no action item for any other athletics facility other than baseball, so I'm guessing construction may not be imminent for the new football building and Garvy Nutrition Center, at least not on the same accelerated timeline of baseball.
