As fans, we need to do what we are hoping the players would do. Despite the frustration and disappointment of this season, we need to hang in there, support the team, and believe that things will get better.
I know after that first sentence a number of you are ready to jump all over me and tell me I am full of s***. I can even predict a number of the people who can't wait to start calling me names. But, notice I did not say we have to accept such a dumpster fire of a program.
What we should do is still attend every game, and continue inviting people even if we get turned down by dozens of them. Show up at least until halftime to keep our attendance numbers up as much as possible and make our TV games look at least somewhat respectable. Remember, we are competing with schools like Memphis, Cincinnati, and Houston to stay on top of them in terms of average attendance. We don't want to become the Bulls who announce 35,000 even though it is obvious that only 20,000 people are there.
IF the B12 decides to expand in the next few years, UCF still has a lot of advantages over other candidates. We cannot afford to throw away those advantages just because of emotional frustration.
We should also write letters to Hitt, Oleary, Bianchi, and members of the BOT and make clear, non emotional, fact based arguments about why GOL should be asked to retire after the season. And yes, it is perfectly OK to tell these people how many season tickets you are not going to buy if GOL is still coach next year and how you will reduce or eliminate your GKC contribution.
