UCF to officially welcome Coach Dawkins, Thursday 11 AM CFE Arena

I bet that attendance was awesome!

Actually it was quite impressive...from both the UCF Fan/GKC/VIP side and from the media side.

Was pretty cool too and see Duke Basketball Twitter with their 200,000 followers comment on Dawkins hire and note they are too followers of UCF Hoops now.

Great to see Tacko, BJ and other teammates show up in support of their new coach.

PICs or it didn't happen

All local news stations where there covering it...paper was there...plus Brandon posted multiple different photos and video interviews from the event yesterday as well.

Also, UCF's website (ucfknights.com) plus all of their social media accounts including photos/videos from yesterday's event.

I like Dawkins idea about players passing the ball. He obviously noticed that from any game he watched. When the stands were empty enough the last few seasons that the players could hear me, I used to yell at them, "Pass the ball" or "Reverse it." Dawkins also noticed that our guards were too selfish to get the ball inside to the big men. Lastly, he promised a running team.

Maybe if you had sat closer we would have won more games with your coaching.

I've been watching the NCAA tourney. It is amazing to watch good basketball. These teams actually care about protecting possessions, getting back on defense, playing defense, protecting the rim, blocking out, clock management, and very talented players that play as a team. Fundamental basketball 101 on display. With Dawkins previous experience I'm sure we will see an improvement. I don't know how Donne Jones coached, but if he taught basketball fundamentals It sure didn't show up on game day.

Go Coach Dawkins! Go Knights!

Yes, one team actually set these things called "screens" for their outside shooters. Others passed until someone was open and filled the lanes on fast breaks. In UCF's first year in AAC where all the nationally ranked teams had better athletes -- quick, long, leapers. This year, Donnie had eliminated that talent gap (and top AAC teams weren't nearly as good). Yet lack of teamwork made for a perpetually out of sync offense, forcing the D to make many stops to stay in the game. Dawkins will inherit all that new talent (nobody essential graduated). That's why Danny hired Dawkins, who is a better teacher and game coach than a recruiter. In contrast, GOL left the cupboard raw and pretty bare, just ripe for Frost to install a modern offense and recruit the speed and in-state (non-Georgia) athletes that O'Leary always ignored because they weren't big enough.
