UCF vs. STETSON (stepson) Wednesday night! BIG GAME 7:00pm CFE Arena

Wouldn't matter. No longer a Jones lead team.
Yes, Jones usually required a last minute bucket to beat Stetson or Bethune-Cookman. Embarrassing!
Even before probation, he couldn't even win games in the C-USA. Just a horrible floor couch.
The very same players look so much more relaxed and self-assured under Dawkins. None of the tentativeness.

Jones never lost to Stetson or BCC.

Speraw lost to BCC once and lost to Stetson 8 times...including 4 in a row during 2 season sweeps early last decade.

Lots of promos going on, including:

16 tix vouchers for just $99 ($6.19 per ticket), which can be used in any quanity for any game on any game day (don't need to decide at time of purchase), i.e. 2 tix to 8 games...4 tix to 4 games...2 tix 4 games and 4 tix to 2 games, etc...any combo of 16 works.

Who mentioned Speraw or even losing games??? UCF was in A-Sun and its precursor during most of Speraw's tenure.

Still, I recall sitting in Stetson bleachers in mid-90s watching as Speraw's single-digit-winning, low-seeded team won 3 straight in the conference tourney (helped by frosh Harry Kennedy's bombs) to earn an improbable ticket to the Big Dance. Several years later, I was in UCF student section there in DeLand with one of my ex-students as the Knights won. Speraw as a very good floor coach in important games.

Speraw was a solid coach...bummer that UCF was broke poor for much of his tenure.

Stetson men's basketball can close November on a high note when the Hatters visit longtime rival UCF, 7 p.m., Wednesday at CFE Arena. The game can be seen on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app.

The Hatters (3-4) and Knights (4-1) are meeting for the 42nd time in a series which dates back to 1974. Stetson and UCF are former foes within the Atlantic Sun Conference. UCF was an ASUN member from 1992 to 2005.

Stetson enters Wednesday's game following an impressive 98-90 win over Florida A&M at the Savannah Invitational last Saturday. Playing without Divine Myles and Brian Pegg, the Hatters rallied from a 10-point deficit behind 33 points from Derick Newton and a 20-point, 12-assist performance by Angel Rivera.

UCF and first-year head coach Johnny Dawkins also earned a win in its last outing, defeating Seattle, 67-51, on Saturday. Guard B.J. Taylor leads the Knights in scoring at 17 points per game.

News & Notes
•Stetson has three November wins for the third straight season but just the fourth time in the last 10 years
•Stetson has never won four games in the month of November
•Angel Rivera not only dished a career-high 12 assists against Florida A&M, but he also became the 9th player in school history to reach 300 career assists
•Divine Myles missed last Saturday's game with Florida A&M, snapping a streak of 66 consecutive starts and 70 straight games played
•Derick Newton (19.7) and Divine Myles (17.2) rank 3rd and 6th, respectively, in the ASUN in scoring
•Stetson leads the ASUN in opponents' field-goal percentage (.437)

DeLand is the only pretty town in Florida. When they filmed Days of Thunder at the Daytona Speedway, they filmed the "up north" scenes in Deland because of its brick, northern look. Best in spring because the city's ablaze in Azaleas. Stetson bills itself as liberal arts school, but it's 53% business majors (vs. UCF under 20% business).
Note 1883: Florida A&M is ranked last of 350 Div. I schools in basketball.
KL: a lot of those losses to Stetson were at their fieldhouse. Since we left the ASun, our games have been played at UCF.

That's excellent Going to be a good game! :)

One my and many other UCF Fans most memorable games in this series came in Deland back in 2010:

Of course, most Knight Fans remember that UCF just beat Stetson in Deland last year...as game that showed glimpses of what McSpadden can do in the future (hit a couple of nice corner 3's).

And don't forget. Stetson was "forced" to restart a football program after decades solely because men won't attend a college that doesn't have football (and lots of partying). The kiss of death for a private college is nearing 60% women enrollment because then neither gender will go there. Sounds silly, but college sports loses money big time and mainly exists to maintain gender enrollment balance. Sports is ALL that I ever hear my male students discuss before class!

Will you STFU

You have no idea what the hell you're talking about.

Contemplating taking the family to the game tonight to support the program/school and thought I might ask some of you for some advice on a first timer going to a game at the CFE arena....

1) Where do you park? Is any place better than any place else?

2) Family friendly atmosphere/game experience? My kids are 12 and 8 years old. No worries getting from parking to arena and back again?

3) Concessions? Do they sell hot dogs, pretzels, sodas and such...or do I need to make sure the kids are well fed before getting to campus?

4) No problem getting tickets at the arena, right?

5) Best place to enter campus is off of Alafaya by the Sigma Chi house? Or is there a better way?

Thanks....looking forward to the experience tonight.

1) Park in garage across the street from arena. I think 5 bucks.
2) yes very family friendly. light up UCF is also going on. Kids may not want to go into arena.
3) yes, concessions inside.
4) easy to get tix.
5) yes.

I'd go to more games if I lived closer. Basketball games are sometimes more fun than football games.

The truth finally got to you. All I got is facts in this fact-free zone flaming. Ask someone why Stetson is the only large private university in America that refuses to offer any needs-based scholarships to those residing in it's city or county (the region that charge them no property taxes). Shameful!

First game this season that UCF:
1. had fewer turnovers than their opponent (11 to 12)
2. had more steals (5 to 1)
3. held opponent to under 25% shooting (22.1%)
4. had nobody play over 30 minute (several had 3 or 4 well over 30 minutes)
5. had so many play lots of meaningful minutes (9 played at least 17 minutes)
6. where Chad Brown showed an offensive game (career high 12, plus 2 blocks, 7 rebounds)
7. Tacko's first multiple assist game (2), including a pretty pass to a cutter under the basket
8. had it's biggest win margin (36)
9. Tacko made a majority of his free throws (4-7) in addition to another perfect game shooting (4-4)
Big student crowd this last week of classes.

Thank You!

Also check UCF basketball promotions on ucfknights.com as they have a $2 hot dog game coming up plus all games during Light Up UCF, you can get an ice skating tix for just $2 more ($12 game and skating tix)

With a family of 4, look into getting 16 tix vouchers ($6.19 per game) that you can use for any game whenever you want (don't have to pick out specific games).

That's a lot cheaper than Disney and almost as much fun.
