UCF's George O'Leary talks spring scrimmages vs. other Florida teams

I like it. Reminds me of high school ball. Would be fun. Stetson, UF, or USF come to mind as opponents we could play.

Why not have a real game against a school that you never get to play? I'm sure that would get a lot of interest with no football until August.

Good idea? I think it would bring a little more excitement to it!

I actually really like it... if you can get someone to bite. I bet it would be a Bethune Cookman, FIU, FAU, etc. My guess is that Florida or FSU would not agree to play in Orlando for a spring scrimmage but it would be awesome if they did. This would also garner a bunch of media attention, regardless of who might agree, should it happen and would get ESPN etc. talking about us.

I don't see it happening. Is it really worth the risk of injuring key players for a meaningless game. I think not. I realize injuries can happen even in a scrimmage game between your team mates. However, with a scrimmage you can tone is down a little bit and control the scrimmage. When another team comes into play, it would be just like any other game including injuries. Just my 2 cents.

Like you said injuries can happen in practice too. It's also 4 months before the season so there is plenty of time to recover.

Maybe vs UF at the citrus bowl.

I was thinking a Big 10 or ACC school in the Citrus Bowl. Michigan State, Wisconsin, Syracuse, Virginia, etc. If it is during spring break those kids come down here anyway so it would be a great crowd. Steve Hogan needs to be on this immediately. These games would be a tremendous advantage to teams that play in them.

Not going to happen: money, travel and injuries along with insuring that everybody has
an opponent their happy with is going to keep this thing from getting off the ground.
It's hard enough to break Saturday schedule to go to a local spring game. Will a large
amount of fans (other than this board) really travel for a meaningless game?
High school inter-team scrimmages are typically a lot closer than college
scrimmages would be. Be very surprised if this gets much attention. Besides, I
see a lot of work still needed before 1st game in these spring games. Anything that
might make this more competitive could impede progress and willingness to
play all the players.
