UN votes to condemn Nazism and racism, but there's only one problem

We voted against it.
I was interested to find out why in the hell we'd vote against it. In a CBS News article I found this:

"We condemn without reservation all forms of religious and ethnic intolerance or hatred at home and around the world," said Deputy U.S. Representative to the Economic and Social Council Stefanie Amadeo, explaining the U.S. vote.

"However, due to this resolution's overly narrow scope and politicized nature, and because it calls for unacceptable limits on the fundamental freedom of expression, the United States cannot support it," Amadeo said.

The craziest thing about this whole stupid issue is that resolutions in UN General Assembly committees are not considered legally binding. In other words, let's allow Russia to make us look like racist idiots regarding a vote that meant diddily-squat.

It's a strange battle to fight, no doubt. Just condemn it and be on your way.

It happens here in American politics ALL THE TIME. Take the " infrastructure" bill loaded with all sorts of money wasting goodies . First title the Bill people will like ,then cram it with political garbage and wrap it with some of the title . Then and this is the best part when your political opposition votes against it you come out and say stupid garbage like why do you hate safe roads and bridges ? Then your political opposition is like a dumb ass deer in the head lights...duh duh uh uh ,I don't hate safe bridges . Media runs with it . mean while the bill funds stuff nothing to do with transportation , driving up costs , debt and expanding social programs.

Affordable Care Act, sane thing ..Why do you hate affordable healthcare? Why do you hate the poor?

Patriot Act...why do you hate freedom?

I find the name of the bill in DC does the polar opposite of what they claim it actually does . The American public just falls for it every time.

Build Back Better is another great example.

So - in your infinite wisdom - the solution is for no bills to be passed? We don't need an infrastructure bill? If we had a functioning Congress, by rights, it should have been passed 20 years ago. But we should delay it FURTHER because ....drumroll...there might be 'goodie wasting' included in it? Good grief. SMH.

Once upon a time, compromise was how bills got passed in Congress. It was the old "I'll scratch your back if you scratch mine" wheeling and dealing behind the scenes that got good things accomplished. In fact, the Spielberg film, Lincoln, did a great job of showing how one of the noblest pieces of legislation in US history - the 13th amendment - was passed this way.

The difference today is that all power rests with the party leaders. The notion that each elected senator or congressman can think for him/herself is antiquated.

An infrastructure bill was passed in 2009. What's with the 20 years BS?

2009 would have been The Perfect Time to have addressed our crumbling infrastructure, but my most accounts, the legislation that was passed back then didn't do it.

I would have thought YOU would have known that. ;)

Shovel ready jobs.

Did we build any infrastructure with that infrastructure bill?

And this happens constantly.
It's why I hate the UN... repeatedly.
This their day to day BS.
