University of Chicago DGAF

U of Chicago is a boss. Left the B1G voluntarily, but still remains part of their academic consortium and allegedly has a standing invitation to return to the B1G anytime they want to.

And they set off the first atomic chain reaction under their football stadium. U of C is the most important never heard of school in the country.

Sorry. Faux courage here.

It's easy to be tough when nobody can stand up to you. It's a private and very exclusive school. They can kick people out and not even blink. Very different from a state school where if you kick the wrong kid out for the wrong reason, it's a legislative hearing and press coverage.

Second, they are making this move after Mizzou has basically gone bankrupt because white suburban mothers want nothing to do with that school for her precious Chase and Mallory. It's easy to be tough when you've got an example how doing the opposite could cost you tens of millions of dollars.

Third, it's old news. If you need someone to be bluntly honest and get through the bullshit of this world, Oklahomans are good people to call. It's the one thing I miss the most about Oklahoma, other than the severe weather.

Here's a link to a New York Times article on the first letter of this kind. There's a jump contained therein to the original letter. It's worth your time. The Okie knocked it out of the park. The UofC letter is a ground rule double.

It's a good symbolic move for a school at the Ivy League level to buck the snowflake path the actual Ivies are taking. Also, no one cares about Oklahoma.

Given the high violence rates, perhaps this is a coy way of doing the equivalent of the putting up signs in a parking lot that says "not responsible for items stolen from cars". They're saying, this is Chicago, there are no safe zones on campus... emotional or physical, without alerting parents that they're spending 6 figures to send their child to a war zone.
