With the spring semester transfer window closing, recruiting attention will soon shift to junior college and high school players left unsigned after the early signing day.

It remains to be seen how much action there will be on that front since the vast majority of quality players signed early, though UCF is focusing in on an offensive tackle from the JUCO ranks.

Lisala Tai, a 6-foot-7, 336-pound offensive tackle from Snow College in Utah, says he will be in Orlando this upcoming weekend (Jan. 14) for an official visit.

Earlier today, Tai tweeted a top six of UCF, Jackson State, Boise State, BYU, West Virginia and Fresno State. He was offered by UCF in late September. He added that he has a Jackson State visit scheduled for the Jan. 21 weekend.

Tai was initially signed by BYU in the Class of 2016. I found a radio interview he did with an BYU outlet in May of 2021 that fills in the gaps on what he's been up to for the past six years.

He was initially going to go on a Mormon mission immediately after high school, but his grandmother suffered a stroke and so he needed to help out the family. He then fulfilled his mission in the Houston area from 2018-2020. From there, he enrolled at Snow College later in 2020. They played a spring season in 2021 and another season this past fall.

Tai should have three seasons of eligibility remaining since he can get an extra year for playing during the COVID season of 2020-21.
