I know Trump had talked about pulling back from the UN. I wonder if this is the start of a bigger move away from the UN.

It's about time. It's a total disgrace. The council has mostly been used as a way to continually degrade Israel by marking ancient Jewish sites as Palestinian territory. Just look at who used to chair the council and who was about to.

This has actually been in the works going back to the Clinton and W. administrations, and had been put into effect during the Obama administration. Trump is just following that course.

Obama Administration restored UNESCO funding in October 2015 and tried previously for years earlier with Congress to restore the funding.

Yeah, Obama pulled a lot of unilateral actions his first, plus the last two (2) years.
Doesn't surprise me Trump is doing similarly.
