Word on the street is that Jordan Franks is going to give safety a shot during practice. If you recall, Franks was more noted as a WR during his high school career but UCF always eyed him as a defensive player. He practiced with the linebackers, but in games he would line up as a DE in pass rush situations.
His official bio lists him at 6-3, 225 pounds. That's pretty big - Clayton Geathers was an inch shorter and approximately 20 pounds lighter, assuming his bio was correct.
UCF loaded up corners in recruiting (and a guy like Brandon Scott could play safety too) as well as linebackers, but there isn't a clear depth at safety beyond Drico Johnson/Jared Henry, and those guys haven't earned anything yet. Mike Rogers, if he's here, could be an option there too.
