Heads up, Virgin is having a sale right now. You can get a ticket to San Francisco (with a layover in LA) for 204 bucks for Sept 11 through the 14th.
Not sure how long the sale lasts or whatnot, but check it out if you're looking to book tickets.
UPDATE: So, they're sneaky... the fares they show are for each leg of the trip, which isn't much of a deal after all.
