We’ve earned the right to be disrespected

When we were putting together 8 and 5 seasons, none of the big 3 teams really cared about us. They would be the first to congratulate us for winning our conference, but we knew that they didn’t respect us.

I have seen a total shift in the way my friends from UF, FSU or Miami talk about my Knights. When they say good win last night, I can tell that it’s baited with animosity. They are always provoking me about our schedule, like we’ve seen with the ADs recently.

None on them cared about us when we were mediocre or when they thought it was a fluke. Now that we have solidified ourselves as the top team in Florida for the second year in a row, they are threatened. When people feel threatened, they tend to tear down the accomplishments of the one who is threatening. So in a very real way, the disrespect we are perceiving is actually our first real taste of respect.
