No. That's absolute crap. We are still relegated to the kids table and absolutely have to go 12-0 to get in and its not guaranteed. Why only one spot for 30+ team?. Why are BYU and ND given any special treatment? They haven't been power teams since the 70's.

Thanks but not thanks.

I agree, but it isn't going to happen. As for the G5 spot at the kid table, right now there is no spot period, and almost 0 shot of ever getting one. One G5 locked in would be great. Problem is they likely wouldn't agree to that even with 8.

If only the powers didn't have to do all this thinking and if only there was a pattern that could be followed, If only the FCS, or Div II, or Div III had a playoff pattern that could be copied. It's tough re-inventing the wheel.

I laugh when people say that a playoff will corrupt the sanctity of bowl games. How many bowls games are there 40?

8 is the end-game. Mark my words. There are 10 conferences now. 5 guaranteed slots with 3 at-larges can be quite feasible and provide JUST ENOUGH opportunity without stretching out the season too long. NO PLAYOFF can exist without room for at least 2 at-large teams or wild-cards.

How about
5 P5 spots for the P5 champs
1 @ large that goes to the highest ranked non champ team inside the top 10
2 G5 spots for the 2 highest ranked G5 champs

8 team playoff

16 makes sense. Shoot the NFL has a 12 team playoff for 32 teams. So 16 for 127 teams is the minium for a legit playoff.

No way. Again..., that's a really poor comparison. That's 3-4 extra games after the season is over. How many times has the 16th best team in the country ever had been considered to be the national champion? None.

Villanova Wildcats won the NC as the 32nd best team.

Just bc something is unlikely doesn't mean they shouldn't have a chance. Think black President.

There you are again comparing apples and oranges. How the heck can you compare the presidential vote and college basketball to a college football playoff system?

The college basketball tournament has an entertainment component to it. We all know that a 15 seed could beat a 2, but they really aren't going to win the title and if they did, a lot of people would still question whether they were the top team.
In college football, the main reason is to give the top teams and a few G5 top teams a fair chance to show that they are the national champions. There isn't going to be a 16,32 or 64 field football tournament. It's too physically demanding as well.

It's not going to 16 teams dude. Absolutely no one thinks it should be 16 teams other than yourself. Show me one post or article amongst the college football coaches and experts. They aren't going to play 4 games after a regular season. The freaking season would go well into January. Get a clue.

Time for you to go back to the dungeon. You're embarrassing yourself.
