This was my first big music festival, so I can't really compare, but this was definitely the best music oriented show I've ever attended.
For those that you have ever considered going, it is an awesome layout. The security is very easy going. The douchbag level is relatively low. Beer isn't cheap, but isn't really expensive either ($9 a tall boy). Free water filling stations all around.
The three main headliners (Paul McCartney, Metallica and Florence + the Machine) were all amazing and performed way above my expectations. Tame was awesome, so was Alabama Shakes, Django Django - friends loved Gogol Bordello and Alt-J.
We found an unreal spot for the three days, mostly didn't leave the Samsung Stage and it was fantastic. Our spot happened to be right where all of the VIPs would come and watch acts, so we got to see Perry Farrell, Sandra Oh, Randy Johnson, Rahm Emanuel, and several others I did not recognize but others did - there were also a number of beautiful women in that area.
I am not a huge fan of Florence, but I would definitely go see them again if they were near. Her show was flat out amazing. TONS and TONS of energy, she took her shirt off and ran around into the crowd to end her set. On top of that she was encouraging people to take off their clothing, which was nice.
I'll definitely be making the trip again.
Bonus points, I had probably my best ever "getting hit on" experience of my life at the show on Saturday prior to Metallica starting. An extremely attractive girl came up to the hand sanitizer next to me (waiting for the port-a-potty to open) and stared me dead in the eyes while pumping it (white crap shooting in her hand with each pump) and said slowly and sensually, while looking me up and down, "I'll take as much of it as I can get." I was floored, jaw literally dropped open, had no response, I have a girlfriend any way, but thank you ten who ever you are, you made my night.
