What did GOL and Todd Stansbary say that the headline on this website says that they said that hinted on us going to the Big 12. God I would love to see us move to the Big 12. Living out here in Texas I would be able to watch us play out here every year. Go Knights to the Big 12.

If it has any teeth, it'll show up somewhere eventually ..

"Because of Twitter I have to be careful how I say this. The dreams of UCF & what you want...we are talking about a sprint." - Todd Stansbury

I believe GOL also said "We will be P5". Of course we shouldn't get carried away but the thing that pops out to me is - GOL and UCF have always been careful not to upset the current conference. I think they said more than they have in the past. I think it was meant to get the fans excited but it just seemed to be a bit more going on behind the scenes.

My guess on what they are eluding to, if I had to make an uneducated one, is that there is simply chatter that the Big 12 is evaluating expansion and we are on a short list. I can't imagine there being anything imminent. So, because we are on a short list IF they choose to expand, we need to put forth a good showing NOW.

It's good to keep the hope alive after last season and the reality of having the rug pulled out from under us in the Big East debacle.

"Soon" and "sprint" rather than "pacing yourself" and its a
"long distance race" keep the booster money coming in strong :)

All we as fans/alums have control over in getting us to a P5 is donate as much as you can afford, go to as many UCFathletic events as possible each year and cheer your brains out. I say we focus on what we can control. Charge On!!!!!

GOL said we will be P5, and I agree with him. The question is: When?

Even if student fees don't go down, they need to go down as a percentage of the budget.

Biggest hint I heard at this event is when GOL (or was it Stansbury?) that basically said/meant: "ATTENDANCE IS PARAMOUNT! More important than donation $$ (at this time), because people (Big 12) is watching and comparing UCF vs others".

If you want to help UCF get into a P5 conf....buy SEASON TICKETS...bring friends, family, neighbors, etc...to football (and basketball) games...as those are the 2 main sports that the Big 12 will be comparing support with the few candidate schools.

Empty seats = negative opinion by those watching

Its all up to the UCF Fan...who have to only show up for 6 football games (actually, hopefully 7 home games with AAC Champ Game) and one bowl game.

No excuses....they are watching...its up to us...and no one else.

The wording was different. It didn't seem like a ploy to get people that most likely already have season tickets to go to the games. Attendance is not going to change much in the AAC

Disagree. Message by GOL was obvious..had everything with people in the seasons plus season tix sales vs other programs

We are 2nd of all G5 (independents not included in http://www.minerrush.com/2015/4/7/8148419/group-of-five-attendance-numbers-aac-mw-mac-sun-belt-cusa ). Our stadium is tiny compare to the others in Big 12, but if attendance is the thing then straight numbers will never excite the Big 12- 45,323 is small. The attendance is something O'Leary mentions every year since he came here, that is nothing new. One good thing, if we want to average 90% full like the Big 12 averages- then we only need just over 5,000 more. We beat the AAC average- 29,447 per game. The only team in the Big 12 we beat in attendance is Kansas and the only ones we can get close to are TCU-44,719 and Baylor-46,794 (which is 103,7%). So if they're just looking for attendance numbers, Big 12 will never expand because only BYU gets big numbers. I think we have proven we can get attendance considering the lack of big names that play in the stadium. Just like everything else- look at the potential. I still think the biggest obstacle is the lack of funding, not attendance- we'll never get the 60,000-90,000 numbers in our stadium as is.

...or this is just all coachspeak (and AD speak). After all, these events are about creating excitement and raising money for athletics. What better way to get people to open their pocketbooks than creating an imaginary urgency that we are about to be P5.

If the Big12 was to expand they would have done it after lowly UCF managed to destroy their conference champ.

That's not true. A conference has to have a financial reason to expand. Perhaps as the B12 realizes how far behind the SEC and B1G they are going to be, they decided to open themselves up to the POSSIBILITY of expansion. The WVU athletic director pretty much admitted they ARE looking at options. UCF fans need to make sure UCF is seen as the best option.
