I'm as high as anyone on UCF but have been around the game long enough to know that sometimes momentum and a bad event or two can really change the way a team prepares and competes. I think this team is motivated, well led and has some playmakers...
BUT, what if we stumble early?
What if Mack starts and plays bad, Wimbush comes in and isn't any better and we have a QB-A/QB-B scenario? Say we lose to both Stanford and Pitt, sitting 2-2. Do you think we still get through the AAC unscathed? Houston will be a tall task and Cincy on the road won't be easy. Even USF might have a better showing this year. Just wondering how other Knight fans feel if the team went 8-4 this year? I know the outsiders will be all over Knight Nation but curious if anyone things this pessimistic scenario is likely?
I do think we will have more challenges running the ball against Stanford and Pitt. This makes us more one dimensional without KZ, sort of the trap that we fell into with LSU. I don't think Stanford or Pitt are LSU last year but we also lost a couple of key guys.
Mostly just bored in the pre-season and wanted to get other's thoughts. I sense a tad overconfidence on the board compared to previous years and we all know the QB position, while maybe the deepest it's ever been, it doesn't have KZ at the helm. He was a very special player for us. On the flip side, we really haven't seen many QBs in a spread system at UCF. It was a transitioned Holman, freshman KZ, beast mode KZ, and freshman Mack.
