Looking at all the sports across the board - men's and women's - which is the most difficult to build consistent and national success? For each gender, I've got to think it's basketball.

MBB has been dealing with the NCAA issues - regardless of your feelings about the state of affairs, I don't care who the coach was, you couldn't have really expected more than what we've seen the past few years. Memphis was the benchmark in C-USA, and now it's Memphis, UConn, Cincinnati, Temple, etc. and now SMU is throwing all sorts of sick cash at hoops these days (though they'll likely be on probation next year). That's a big challenge when you aren't playing with a full deck.

Women's basketball, you don't even try to think about UConn, but you'd like to be at a point where you're comparable with a USF or Tulane (both should be NCAA Tourney teams).

In every sports other than football, which has its own issues due to Power Five, there's no reason why UCF shouldn't be a top team. All the scholarships are valued the same, great location, weather, access to talent, etc.

Football has it a little more difficult than the baseballs, softballs and soccers of the world because recruits are brainwashed about the Power Five tag now, but the location, track record of success, recruiting base, etc. should make UCF a contender at their level each and every year.
