I was expecting to see a 10 page thread by now- 9pm. Where is it at?

Whoopdy doo. My high school friends and I were "hacking" each other's computers and controlling them 15 years ago. Are you really surprised the greatest spy agency in the world has that capability?
Stockholm Syndrome.
Herp derp if u ain't got nothing to hide herp derp. The reality is you couldn't hide it if you tried.
It's beyond privacy, it's the unfettered ability to control any car 2010 and newer. The ability to physically destroy devices if they want. It's circumventing the agreement where zero day exploits are shared with manufacturers so the consumers are protected from nefarious hackers. It's the ability to get into any electronics and manipulate the data (I.e.plant child porn).
It's an insane amount of power that if wielded improperly would turn us into 1984 on steroids. Oh and it's being managed by un elected officials so the American people have no say in it.
It's about as Un-American as you can get.
The government has warships, tanks, planes, drones, biological, chemical and nuclear weapons - they don't need luck. The 50M with pea-shooters do.I wish the government luck against 50M armed citizens.
That won't happen but they can ensure they control politics and policy in America by limiting political opposition.I wish the government luck against 50M armed citizens.
Hahahahaha...you're gonna lose.I'll take 50M with hand guns vs few hundred thousand in the government. They wouldn't be nuking their own country. The Navy would be useless.

LOL @ the Bastille. That was muskets v muskets. One thing that would work in the citizens' favor would be the doubt soldiers would have against killing the citizenry, but then again, cops shoot regular folks all the time, especially in the presence of drawn weapons.Red Cell and the storming of the Bastille are both proof that a small group of badasses can take control of warships, tanks, planes, drones, biological, chemical and nuclear weapons with small arms. Ain't no such thang as a hopeless fight, if you want it bad enough.

Nope. You're assuming that an unorganized citizenry would unanimously and instantly galvanize a strategy against military installations. There would be a lot of those 50M that would side with the government as well. You're assuming way too much. This wouldn't be a conventional coup or civil war. A lot of the military would defect from the government IMO. Beside that, even with a full strength military the government would never win. It's the same reason no country could ever successfully invade the US. They'd have to go door to door across the entire country. It's just not feasible.

True, but there's also no fine print saying the government is allowed to monitor and/or control those items. My employer has to have a banner stating they can monitor the computer and I have to acknowledge it every time I log in. They do it for legal reasons and the govt should have to as well unless through a court order. You don't need to own a computer or a car
It's been very easy for the government to get everyone to comply so far. What makes you think it gets harder? It doesn't have to be organized. The government would bear the burden of making every citizen comply. That would involve going door to door across the country. There are 280M other citizens that don't own guns as well. They're not all just going to surrender. Just not going to happen, at least not in my lifetime. It's impossible. It would take indoctrination over generations.

Yes, we are. Where have you been? It's already well down that road. We're talking about the hypothetical of the US turning into an Orwellian utopia. Not the country evolving with technology.
