UCF: Brandon Helwig who does an excellent job covering UCF for UCFSports.com reports tonight that the four coaches Danny White intends to interview for the position are the same four we wrote about Tuesday: Dino Babers, Geoff Collins, Randy Shannon & Gene Chizik.

Taken from football scoop site.

Not Chizik.
My preference:
1. Collins
2. Shannon
3. Babers

I admit I know little about Babers and I'm skeptical of Shannon's ability. Basically, it's Collins or meh. But definitely not Chizik.

The more I hear about Collins the more I like. Babers is an offensive guy with HC experience, which has to be a plus. Those two would be fine with me. Curious as to why Cristobal isn't getting more of a look.

I'm OK with those 4 choices, but not thrilled with Shannon as a choice for a head coach.

Cristobal is either not interested, not available, too expensive, or he's taken, been offered, or is more interested in the Miami job. He may have interviewed already with UCF.

Most likely White isn't interested in him.

All speculation of course.

This. UCF's Program needs a HC that already has a Recruiting Network set up in the South and Collins + Shannon have a huge lead on that.

Collins is my first choice w Shannon being a distant second. A young and energetic coach is what UCF needs right now after GOL for so long.

I'm surprised Cristobal is not even getting an interview. Is Miami hiring him?

Chizik for me. Would stay around as long as we wanted him to. Collins will leave after a few seasons. Both have UCF and southern ties but Chizik more HC experience even if it wasn’t the best. Both would need an innovative OC to be successful right away.

that's why I don't want Chizik. UCF doesn't need GOL 2.0 with a guy thinking he is above the Program and his best days were before signing the dotted line.

Also I don't think it's a given Collins would leave at the first sign of success. He took a pay cut to get out of Mississippi State to take the UF DC job bc he likes the State of Florida.

Yep we need someone motivated. If we hired Collins or babers they would be motivated to win for 5 years and then leave. What's so bad about that? Then we hire another guy who is motivated til were P5 then they'll stay

Why would you say that Chizik thinks he is above the UCF program? The guy loved it here and was really upset about leaving UCF for Auburn years ago. Coach Kruzcek told him he needs to go to do what is best for his family. Back then our assistants didn't even make $100K. I can assure you the guy would bleed black and gold if he came here. I think you're making major bad assumptions if you think he will just take a pay check.

Out of the 4 coaches here is my ranking for what I want. We really can't go wrong with any of the 1st 3 options.

1) Collins
2) Chizik
3) Barbers
4) Shannon- Really not excited if we go that route. I get uneasy when you can't win with 4 and 5 star talent.

It was based on quotes he made on an article about the job he's done at UNC

"I already won a National Championship(thank u Cam bagman)"

"I'm not going to interview if I'm one of 7 candidates"

He was a disaster at Iowa State and lost control of his assistants at Auburn.

I am pretty sure that Collins' contract at Mississippi State "was not renewed". He got a lot of credit for the State defense during the 9-0 start of 2014 and he subsequently took much of the fall for the collapse which followed.

That said, I would LOVE to see Collins get the job. Great recruiter, UCF history, state of Florida history, young, energetic. He is a good defensive mind, but he really should hire a DC here.

I will worry about him treating UCF as a stepping-stone when that time comes; that means he did a great job! And maybe UCF's P5 ticket will come around in time to stop him from leaving...

Definitely good points brought up but Chizik was interested and was a candidate for this job when GOL was offered. Correct me if i'm wrong, but the way the media portrayed it, the AD had GOL penciled in for the job and convinced him to take it. I mean think about the statements GOL said when he was coach, the focus on spending more money, the push for an on campus stadium. This isnt the comments about a coach wanting a job, its about the conditions for taking it.

Werent these comments made when GOL had Key in the bag? :D

I wound up flying on plane with Chizik, his wife and cheerleader team on way to Liberty Bowl in 2007. He and his wife really love UCF and if he was selected, he would be probably most dedicated out of all four candidates. I just don't know what kind of recruiting ties he has and his plans for taking this program to next level. All four of these candidates are very high quality. Wish I could listen to these guys at interview time :) that's where the separation is going to occur.

if I were a betting man I'd bet on Collins. He seems to be on most lists of UCF potential head coaches and on very few lists for other schools (at least in terms of what the "experts" are saying). Maybe that's why Cristobal has fallen out of favor, he has Miami as leverage for $$$ if we were interested. I still like Shannon as #2, although it seems I'm in a minority's there. The guy ran a clean program at UM and I think he deserves a second chance. No thanks on Chizik-great guy but I don't think there's any way they'd bring him back in here and I don't think he's the answer. Don't know enough about Babers to have an opinion.

I'll take guys wanting conditions like a commitment to stadium improvements all day. Chizik would be die hard 100% on board. That comment was more about don't waste my time unless i'm your #1 choice.

I'll take any of the Barbers, Chizik, or Collins options all day. Not a bad group there
