Why can't we just have an honest and official explanation as to why we lost 2 home games?

Saying that it's 100% because of Irma is a reason, but there's much more to it. This is leaving a lot of bad tastes in the mouths of a lot of fans. They need to come clean. This is a PR nightmare for DW and UCF. What a financial hit as well.
So.., if we lose to Maryland, how many fans are we looking at for Maine?

Dr Hitt takes the high road...and therefore anyone who works for him does as well.

Look at how he handled Judy Genshaft fighting like crazy to keep UCF out of the Big East. Despite the fact that at least two Big East Athletic Directors made comments about USF's opposition to UCF, Dr Hitt never publicly called out USF. Dr Hitt claimed that USF and UCF had a great relationship.

There is no way UCF is going to call out Memphis for backing out of the game that could easily have been played.

Georgia Tech is a different matter. Whoever made the decision to release the UCF football players pretty much sealed the fate of the GT game. Whether they realized it at the time is open to question.

Memphis landed their plane at about 10P.M. the night before!! They were on the freaking ground! The damn weather was cloudy, beeezy and a light drizzle at 6:30 Friday evening. Such B.S.

As far as the GT game, it was called
off on MONDAY. EVEN MORE B.S.!

Inexcusable. The more it sinks in, the more angry most of us are.

And as soon as they landed and found out about Gov Scotts closure of all schools effective immediately, they used that as an excuse to turn around and go home. DW and the UCF administration fully intended to go through with the game. But you would have to be enough of a fan to subscribe to the Dungeon to know about that. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

There has not been an official explanation and most likely will not be
It's all speculation from many many "reliable" sources, so who really knows the facts 100%? The Dungeon does not have this info. UCF has no official media spokesperson.

The "official explanation" is that UCF and Memphis mutually agreed to cancel the game, even though DW and UCF fully expected the game to be played.

Got it. The "official" explanation is a lie, so who can believe anything at this point. Memphis is a done deal, so now let's discuss GT
 
People can spin this all however they want and try to "make" others see it their way, but it's hard to deny that this isn't looking good for UCF in the eyes of many fans. Yes., you have to appease the "fanatics" somewhat at least. Any denying this, read Danny White's email. Can't bite the hands that feed you
 
They never gave the GT game a chance to be played. This was decided last Friday and announced Monday. Probably wouldn't have even been played if the hurricane missed the Orlando area completely. Sent players home Friday and invited the NG. Done deal

After this whole ordeal there has to be a new contingency plan put in place where if a hurricane is approaching there is an already agreed upon prepared and open place for the teams to safely travel to, practice in the days leading up to, and play the game. For instance, St. Louis has the Rams old dome stadium sitting empty and they are not in hurricane territory. Something like that, just so that everything is already sorted out. I still don't understand why schools like Miami and USF did not take their team and staff out of the path of the hurricane to play scheduled road games where their people would definitely be safe and they would not require the precious resources that the people who remain in this area need. Think of all the gas, water, and food those hundreds of people have consumed in this past week that could've helped others.

Why exactly wouldn't GA Tech host the game this weekend? Did we ask to switch the home and home and they said "nah we'd only have one week to sell the tickets and don't want to bother trying"?

If the NCAA makes concessions for Hawaii and all their opponents to play an extra game, and the military academies playing after the regular season, I see no reason why we can't figure out how to make up these two games at home.

Again there is absolutely no reason why we shouldn't make up these games.

Why don't we get the homes games we deserve.

Go to campus like I have, and see for yourself that these games should be played here at UCF.

1. No real reason given for why the Memphis game was cancelled.

2. It did sound to me that we are looking to reschedule, but Danny didn't want to say too much.

In the end, these games should absolutely be rescheduled.

None of the fans that I know who were on the fence about UCF want anything to do with going to games at this point.

Actually I am a season ticket holder and I make generally one or two games a season plus an away game. I don't live in Florida but have supported the UCF program for 30 years. But man right right now there are about 20 posts from people who are super angry about this and 18 of them are you. You are ranting.

This pretty much confirms what I have been saying all along about the Memphis game. DW clearly alludes to the fact it was not UCF's decision. UCF wanted to play the game, was ready to play the game, and as we all know, the game could have been played with Memphis snugly back in their beds in Tennessee before hurricane winds even started in Key West.

Bianchi asks if there was any funny business with Memphis backing out after they arrived.

"That was a tough night for me," White said. "We knew all along the Georgia Tech was more at risk with the storm, just because it would be after and with the forecasts being so severe. I heard about Hurricane Charley. In my neighborhood, we still don't have power. We were most concerned about making sure we could get the Memphis in. That's why we moved it to Friday night. Even that decision, from Saturday to Friday, that's a major revenue loss for us. But we knew how important it would be to get that game in. Obviously with the governor closing the universities, that decision was made when Memphis was in the air. It was very frustrating we weren't able to get that game in. Knowing the weather, we knew we would have been safe and could have gotten Memphis out. It just didn't work out."

I'm certainly not the only one annoyed about the way this was handled and the flat out lie about the Memphis game

You clearly don't understand how the world works. It's usually not a good idea to publicly throw a business partner under the bus. And while UCF and Memphis are competitors, they are also partners as members of the same conference who have to cooperate with each other.

And if the governor was the problem, it would be VERY unwise for UCF to call him out abot the decision.

I do understand. It's still lying to the fans. The lifeline of the program I can be upset since I'm just a nothing fan and not Memphis football business partner
