Honestly, I was never impressed with the guy at UM, but I believe everyone deserves a second chance, esepcially if they are a slam dunk in recruiting.
Shannon was able to pull in some stellar classes while at UM with the 305 talent. He outrecruited Al Golden statistically. His record at the U was pretty good. The rap on Shannon was that he couldn't develop talent.
Geoff Collins seems like a great up and comer, but I'm concerned about couple things - his tenure while at UCF was mediocre. He pulled in some solid recruits for sure, but never exhibited David Kelly like capabilities, and just won't bring the brand that a Randy Shannon has for Florida recruiting.
All things considered, you have to think Randy Shannon comes in a LOT more qualified than a Willie Taggart hire with better overall risk/reward. Thoughts?
