Will Terry Fire The Mess(ner)?

Last year the women's team was dead last in Big 12. This year was a slight improvement. They won a tournament game and finished a few spots above last place. It's minimal progress, but is it enough? I wish the men's basketball team was making some more progress.

The men’s team got hit with injuries. I don’t like excuses but it’s out there. If they come back with all the players that can come back next year I think you run it back. Need to get a little bit bigger and athletic upfront, but if Sellers Hall Thiam and Williams come back it’s a nice core. I don’t know. The buyout is reasonable, but I don’t know if we can come close to replace the talent noted above. Tough decision

What are your thoughts on the Lady Knights, as we stand today?

Mohajir is not going to fire anyone in a situation where he has to pay money to the person being fired. That’s all.

When Coach Abe left, she took many of the players and recruits with her. Other recruits jumped ship. UCF had an amazing women's basketball team for a few years before Coach Abe left. Messer was handed a total rebuild. She has brought in a few good players this year, but more are needed. I think she earned another year by beating BYU.

I watched them lose to Kansas State today. They had so many more talented players than we did. Our girls were fighting hard, but there was a huge talent gap. I have seen our men's team lose to BYU multiple times, so I was glad we knocked their women's team out of the tournament. It would be unfair to fire her and keep Dawkins around.

how would it be unfair? men's basketball isn't an embarrassment, we have two top 10 wins this season and many close ones. the women's team just went out and got demolished most nights.

So you're saying that a coach who has been here for 9 years and has basically done nothing, deserves more time than one who has been here for 2 seasons?

Makes sense.

I was looking at improvement. The women's team made some progress. They won a tournament game and moved up from last to a few places above last place. That isn't much, but it is a good trend. It shows some improvement. I was hoping for some improvement on the men's side too. They got blown out often as well. They got blown out by last place Colorado. They went 7-11 last year in the big 12 and they are 7-12 now. There is still time to show some improvement, but I haven't seen much yet. They beat OK state to move into 13th place(same as the girl's team.) I am still very hopeful. Maybe we can win 2 or 3 tournament games. If you play enough ranked teams, eventually you win a few. I have had season tickets for many years. The team often starts out well and fades away. My expectations are not that high, but the season has still been disappointing to me. It seems like a repeating pattern. It is not enough to lose so many games and write an article saying we won 2 or 3 games against ranked teams. That is not the same as going to the NCAA tournament. Words can be used to influence people. Heck, I used to believe the hype, but I have seen the same thing for too many seasons.

Is that what they say?

200+ collegiate basketball programs say hi :)
