No bc I want a new coach in asap when the season ends to get on the recruiting trail

the more realistic option is that UCF will officially announce he will step down/retire after the last regular season game

FWIW George skipped out on media availability after the game today. Only talked to Jerry O'Neil after the game.

I'd be disappointed. I don't know what firing him would be trying to accomplish when he is retiring after this year anyway. It's not like all of a sudden we'd be going to a bowl game if we fire him. Our team is currently decimated... and temporarily having someone else be the HC isn't going to get very different results this season. So, I see no point. Furthermore, having such a long tenured HC makes you a more attractive landing spot for other outside HC candidates. Firing a coach after all the success he's had once the first bump in the road comes along would not give an outside coach to the confidence that that they'd have much security when an inevitable bump comes along.

If OLeary wasn't retiring after this year, we'd have a much harder decision to make. But the fact that he's retiring anyway makes it easy. Just ride it out, and hire a new coach this offseason...

Just two years ago we had the best year in our history and likely the best we will see in a lifetime. I agree this is a woeful team, but
all the circumstances that led to this are clearly definable. O'Leary has been a great coach for UCF. Hold your breath and wait for
BB and if he doesn't show marked improvement then I'll join the fire the coach bandwagon.

When did he announce he is retiring?

Lol lets just get this clear. I think all the people who want GOL gone realize this team isnt going to a bowl or improve if GOL is fired tomorrow. We need to start the process of moving by ridding our program of the past. Yes unlike some of the haters, i wanted GOL to finish what he started, to go for the kill and finally establish UCF as a g5 power or at the very least beat NC State in last years bowl game to finish off our great five year run with an explanation point. He couldnt even do that. The last good moment for UCF was the lucky 51 yard TD pass to a future NFL player. That was proof that our success was more luck than skill...and this year our luck has run out. The illusion of greatness has finally been exposed. We rewarded him handsomely for what he has done and for what he hasnt done.

Now he must go...the sooner the better.

I know, what a turnaround. Who would have thought we'd end up like this. And we were joking about USF's coach getting fired...

I'll be upset if it's not let out that a full AD search is underway in short order with some hint that a housecleaning is coming. This is embarrassing to me and my Alma mater. We are certainly now "on the lips of a lot of people".

Good post. 100% agree

The performance against Tulane ... just no words. It's definitely the coaching.

If I'm wrong, let 2017 and/or 2018 show it. I think we've got some great, young kids. But the coaching ... you can see it in the little things.
