Woman killed by pack of weiner dogs.

I used to have a dachshund. Chained him to a tree in the front yard and fed him every three days. Dude was tough. Very misunderstood breed.

I have had weiner dogs since I was 6 years old. Generally speaking they have been really friendly but they are incredibly vicious in a fight. Not particularly dangerous to an adult person but not something that a child or older person would be capable of handling.

Weren't they bred to be hunting dogs? Still have some of that killer instinct it seems.

They were bred to hunt badgers, which is pretty badass. The miniature dachshunds aren't quite as intimidating but they still have that bent in them.

Looks like they were pit bulls mixed with dachsund.

Dinwiddie and Layton also claimed that all of the dogs were under 40 pounds. Dr. Aldridge refutes that as well, stating yesterday on Facebook, "There was one that was larger, approximately 55-60 pounds, that the owners described as the sire to these shorter dogs." Dr. Aldridge is referring to the pit bull, visible in the photographs as the largest dog in the pack. Furthermore, Aldridge spoke to the owner of the dogs and confirmed the male pit bull was the sire of the smaller offspring.

Why would anybody in their right mind decide it's a good idea to take the most vicious and deadly dog the world has ever seen and mix it with a pitbull?

Weight tells you nothing here. I have a basset hound who is 55 pounds yet is barely taller than actual dachshunds- just wider and denser. No one in their right mind would look at my 55 pound dog and day he’s “big”.

Like most all pack attacks, I am guessing these dogs were neglected, malnourished, and abused. And that’s why they attacked

Did you look at the pictures? The 55 pounder was a pit.

And what is a "pit"? The dog was 55 lbs; I've seen "pits" that are 100 lbs. I have a boxer mixed breed mutt that some people call a "pit".

It sounded to me like all of the dogs contributed in the attack, not just the male.

The baby dogs were sired by the pit. Look at the pictures. Labeling those dogs as dachsunds was incorrect. Pits are not all aggressive. But most fatal dog attacks are in fact pit bulls.
