WRs looking promising

Article gives hope for our WR play...

Akins (88), Smith (80) on outside with freshmen backups and
Patti and Payton at slot (?) plus others we should be fine at this position.

I read the story. I remember watching Beckton play. Can't wait! I mean there is no JJ worton, and there may never be..but, ya never know!

Our two outside receivers looked good in the spring game.
Patti could be another Godfrey style receiver and we have
some good young players at this position.

Will they be as good as last year's group? No, but they may look as good
because Holman is throwing more catchable passes.

Interested in seeing Patti in the slot. He seems athletic and reasonably elusive when in space from what little I have seen. Not quite Godfrey though. Anyone know what his 4.0 time is?

Patti is a deserving D1 backup quarterback, but the idea we are seriously discussing him as a slot receiver is troubling. My hope is that Tre'Quan Smith/Jordan Akins break out and we go with Tristan Payton in the slot. I would rather see a guy like D'erren Wilson jump right into the mix and see what he's got. This would also provide valuable experience for next year.

As long as Patti doesnt trip on himself like Godfrey did when he tried to breakaway he'll be fine. Apparently we have some steady QBs in our lineup that moving hiim to the slot was his best opportunity for playing time. Besides worst case scenario he's still around if they need him as a QB.
