WTH....American Basketball

A 2-6 EZU beats a 5-3 Temple (64-61)....and a 4-4 Houston beats a 5-3 Tulsa.(81-66)...

ECU, who UCF swept, beats Memphis and Temple in back-to-back games.

ECU, like almost all teams in AAC, has talent...and when you shoot well and/or the other team doesn't (like Memphis did on Sunday, when they shot just 23% from 3 pt land), you can win some games.

Temple, who swept Cincinnati, beat SMU...also suffered a 27 pt loss at home to Houston and now this loss to ECU...hard to figure them out.

Coach Jones had better figure out how to get his team up and beat a Temple, Cincinnati, and Memphis this year.

If ECU can beat some of the teams and we can't then it just shows Donnie's lack of coaching and motivating his players.

LOL...mean that same ECU team Donnie Jones' team SWEPT this year?

Guess that 60 pt first half performance, 28 pt halftime lead AGAINST ECU just wasn't good enough for you.

Again, that Temple team was the same one that was BLOWN OUT at home by 27 pts to Houston....who had just lost 4 games in a row...including a home game vs then winless USF, another team UCF has already swept this year.

Here's a hint: Coaches look good when players make shots....Coaches don't look so good when players miss shots. It's kind a simple concept.

Our 3 point shooting has been terrible in several games this year...the most recent game against Memphis as an example. Meanwhile, in the second half it seemed like every Memphis shot was going in.

We finally seem to be learning how to get the ball inside to McBride who is finishing extremely well. Unfortunately he can't play 40 minutes a game. Hopefully Tacko can develop a little more...he has had some really good games, while others like the Memphis game he looked a little clumsy.

That happens to every team, heck, happened to Memphis just 2 days prior when they shot just 23% from downtown in their home loss to then winless ECU.

Good news for UCF is that the team is shooting better now in conf play, then they did in non-conf play.

In non-conf play, UCF shot 32.3% from downtown...while UCF has improved to 37.1% in AAC play, which is 2nd best in the conf (only behind SMU's 37.5%).

Adonis has struggled a bit over last 3 games...but others in conf play have really stepped up their 3 pt % (Shaheed is shooting 58.3%, McSpadden 50%, Williams 47.2%).

UCF is also #2 in FG % during conf play (47.8%), only again behind SMU (49.1%).

And yes, other UCF players are doing a much better job at getting the ball inside to McBride (and sometimes Tacko too), as McBride is shooting 65.5% in conf play..which is believe it or not slightly less than his higher shooting percentage in non-conf play....but he is now getting more mins, more attempts and more pts (ave 13.1 in conf play vs 5.5 in non-conf play).

True...but remember...we lost to Memphis because of DEFENSE :) ......and 16 turnovers.
