Pitt doesn’t offer your 2 star players. Your fans act like this was such a surprise to lose to the panthers. Well, Pitt recruits waaaaaay better than a AAC team.
Your starting defensive tackle wanted a Pitt offer so bad. Well, frankly the Pitt staff didn’t think he was good enough.
Pitt’s 2 best defensive lineman didn’t even play today.
It’s obvious a AAC team simply cannot play a P5 Schedule every week. Glad the nation got to see their opinions were correct all along.
Unfortunately, Pitt should of beat Penn st last week at their place.
Remember, until you get into a P5 conference. No one will take you seriously
You realize....
We take ourselves seriously, thank you, and so do the people running our program and school. Even if we won, the moving bar would have been moved again because you would just say, "Alright, you won two but you couldn't play a whole P5 conference schedule."
P5 teams like yours can't play a P5 schedule either, with P5 recruiting....you've more than proven that by having one 10+ win season since 1990 and winning zero outright conference titles (you were co-Champs twice with other schools, having 4-2 and 5-2 records). Trust me, if Milton was out there playing instead of a true freshman you would have been thrashed. And yes, I understand road games are much tougher than home games. Just look at Vegas point spreads.
The top AAC teams would do just fine in the ACC, especially right now. Now, you add in ACC recruiting and money.....yeah, we'd get much better. You have one dominant team right now, Clemson, and I will just leave them out of this discussion because they are that good. Here's the rest of the ACC playing other P5 programs (that's 2-6) :
UF 24 Miami 20
Bama 42 Duke 3
UNC 24 South Carolina 20
Notre Dame 35 Loserville 17
Kansas 48 BC 24
Penn State 17 Pitt 10
West Virginia 44 NC State 27
BC 30 Rutgers 16 (Technically Rutgers is P5 but that is debatable since they are 6-37 in conference play since joining the Big Ten.....great decision to bring them in BTW!)
Other dominant P5 ACC games over teams that could never compete, apparently, in the ACC, even with ACC recruiting and money:
Boise State 36 FSU 30
Wake Forest 38 Utah State 35
Pitt 20 Ohio 10
Va Tech 31 Old Dominion 17
FSU 45 UL Monroe 44 (OT)
VA Tech 24 Furman 17
The Citadel 27 GA Tech 24
Virginia 28 Old Dominion 17
App State 34 UNC 31
Miami 17 Central Michigan 12
Versus the AAC:
NC State 34 ECU 6
GA Tech 14 USF 10
Pitt 35 UCF 34
(And yes, ECU and USF are garbage right now)
One big difference is you peaked as a program in the 70's or early 80's....a long time ago and there is no upside. We still have big upside because of where we are located, and because our program does what it needs to do to win and compete, even with the financial and recruiting disadvantages we have always had, other than location. Remember, we were a half-@ssed football team prior to 2004 and at that time we decided to have a football program. So in 15 years we have 5.3 conference titles (played for two other outright titles), are 2-1 in BCS/NY6 games and have a Natty. Not too shabby.
