#13 Texas A&M @UCF Men's Basketball Monday, 7pm. ESPN+, radio

I watched first half and then fell asleep at HT. Woke up for last minute so I missed a lot. Glad we won. I was hoping we’d be pretty good and so far we are. Good defense and the offense should get better.

Really didn't expect a win, but hopefully its not setting up the usual arc of early season hope > fall apart mid season > make a run towards the end to get close to a tournament. Also crazy how much roster turnover there is in cbb, its hard to keep up with who is is coming from where.

Seems like we've got a couple of nice weapons offensive. Defense: Dawkins gonna Dawkins.

I wonder when Sellers starts playing. Hopefully he'll be back by January after our garbage OOC schedule.

Mikey Williams still hasn't seen the floor. Hmmmmm.

We got some room for growth from this game. We didn’t shoot great ( we will shoot better) and were missing some big parts
D was exceptional again
REAL nice start Kids played great at end in the most critical moments. Impressive.

He is wearing a boot, suffered a foot/ankle injury (Williams). Dawkins said after the game he shouldn’t be out too long.

Just some of my thoughts, observations from last night:

-Thiam has incredible defensive instincts. His shot-blocking ability is real. Unfortunately, we were thoroughly dominated in the paint against Texas A&M. Love his rim protecting upside, but still a long way to go as far as floor balance, positioning, and defensive rebounding/holding position. We know his recovery ability is going to be a factor.
-Some things I liked about Taylor last night, some things I didn’t. Defensively, I think he impressed me the most as far as guarding multiple positions, his length on the perimeter, as his overall ability to disrupt/deflect live balls. Offensively, I think he has a ways to go with his handle/overall strength with the ball. He played a little out of control for me, but I think as he earns more minutes, the game will slow down for him. Overall, he could be a nice find off UCF’s bench, solid debut.
-In Big 12 play, I could definitely see this team struggle with size. Their interior guys don’t seem to have a lot of top-end talent (outside of Thiam). B. Williams has some size, but there doesn’t seem to be a lot of offensive skill there. Hopefully he can rebound and become a dependable role-player/rotation guy.
-Deebo Coleman is an experienced ACC guy with over 100 games played in his career. But he doesn’t seem to have a lot of juice/burst to his game. He’s steady enough to play some minutes for now, but I could see him being the guy that gives way when Sellers, M. Williams, etc get healthy.

As a coach, games like last night are a blessing. You get a win, which is most important. But also, you have plenty to show your guys on film of all the areas they need to still improve upon.

Loved seeing that first win, Charge On!

Definitely. We have a bit of size that can score but our other big men seem slow and passive. Ivy has a nice short jump shot! Mustafa will develop.

lost by to SDST....one basket away from FAU making the title game. Crazy.
