Cool, how much irreparable damage will he have done in the mean time before that happens? Knowing that time is our most crucial resource, given that the PLA has been directed by Xi to be ready to invade Taiwan in 788 days.

We have 2 months of Austin and plenty of time. The entire military and all the decisions aren’t made by one guy.

Yes 2 more months of Austin, that's great. I would still like his replacement to be better than him. I wasn't crazy about his choice as he is 100% CENTCOM focused, I had high hopes of a INDOPACOM experience replacement.
Of course all the decisions aren't made by one person. But the single person who makes the most decisions is the SECDEF. I'd like that person to be the most capable and competent experienced professional that we have available. Not a mainstream media talking head.
Yes I do think the PRC is positioning itself to be capable to invade Taiwan. And this dangerous choice 100% makes it more likely. This sends a massive signal to the PLA that our leader is weak/inexperienced, they may see this as the opening they need.
